I also have the previous design. Loved the concept, but the elastic nature of corner straps made it risky. Fixed with some clear "sticky dots" and used it daily. The new design is awesome, corner straps are made of a (leather-rubber) type material. They grab and hold excellent with or without a bulky case..I use no case, and works great.. The little utility bag straps aren't that strong. One of mine gave way while carrying it by the bag...the other held so no drop happened...The bag is a great addon for an instant prop to angle device, just be Leary of trusting those little hoops that hold it on...YES, I would by this product again, and have already had 2 coworkers purchase one.
Pros: High quality, makes tablet much more useable in day to day life, super convenient
This product is everything promised. I only wish it were a little less bulky. MAybe this was impossible, given what it is trying to do, but it makes the tablet barely fit in its case.
This is the second case of this type and the only case of this type I could find. I use it everyday. I work in a manufacturing environment and this case gives my iPad added protection and makes carrying the case convenient.
Pros: Durable, handy for manufacturting enviroment
Perfect for field inspection. I like to walk my projects and make notes. Look at plans, take pictures, send email from site. This product just took the clutter out of my life, and in the heat and humidity of central florida, the less one has to carry the better
I debated as to whether to spend the extra money for this but it was well worth the money. It makes carrying my tablet so much easier and more secure. In my job I'm often climbing through bushes or walking around pools as I look at homes and I'm not nearly as worried now about dropping my tablet. I also like strapping it to my leg as I'm driving for the map so I don't have to worry about it sliding around or having to reach over an pick it up. I can easily glance down at the map to check my route. I highly recommend this attachment if you use your tablet for work.
The new version of the Utility Latch answers the issue of the elastic wearing out. The corners hold more solidly than before. The design of the back doesn't work as well with the headrest strap. The diagonal shape of the gap allows the iPad to rotate. I had to put the strap between the carrier and the iPad to hold it straight. The product would be better with the old back design and the new corners.
The utility latch is a great add on to the Defender case I purchased for my iPad Air. In addition to the hand strap built into the back, the product comes with a shoulder strap, a large Velcro strap, and a large clip for hanging the iPad in a variety of ways. All of the accessories fit nicely into a small carrying pouch that can be clipped to the latch.
The only drawbacks are how the latch can cover the buttons on the iPad and how it makes the Defender cover difficult to attach.
Am enjoying this product very much but the only thing I don't like is that the pouch bag strings both broke off and having that little bag allows you to keep the tablet up right to use it in a comfortable setting.
