A Great and Versatile Laptop
on September 28, 2012
Posted by: DesireeGirl
I purchased this laptop a few months ago with the knowledge that I needed something to effectively do homework on and for my enjoyment as well. This laptop has worked fantastically for me! Some of the pros about this laptop is that it has a processor that makes browsing very fast, great customization, a wonderful screen, a good-functioning built-in webcam (an added bonus that comes in handy and saves you money since you don't have to purchase one separately!), long battery life, great features that could be added to it (and most of them I did add!), and a lot of storage. I found only two significant cons in that the power button has a strange feel to it when pressed (but that isn't really a big deal in the end), and it's starting to run a bit slower than when I first purchased it. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of the cause of this. I expected it to a get a little slower, but the change has become more noticeable to me than what I would have liked. I don't have a huge amount of photos, documents, etc. on it, so I haven't "overloaded" it in any way, which makes my situation a little frustrating. I've used my security features to scan it and apparently, all systems are fine. I will continue to try to find the cause of this. Don't get me wrong; it's still pretty fast, and I still love it!
Overall, it's a durable, pretty fast, easy-to-use, and customize-able laptop that can fulfill anyone's needs. I have enjoyed it for the time that I've had it and hope to continue enjoying it for a long time to come!
Pros: homework, projects/crafts, social networking, games
I would recommend this to a friend!

Couldn't ask for more.

I am currently in India. I got this laptop from a relative in US.
Well to start off, this is all-around performer a steal at the price I got it for.
The laptop looks and feels amazing. The picture quality is flawless. The CD/DVD playback is absolutely amazing and surprisingly fast.
The chiclet keyboard is not cramped and is spacious and well placed. There is ample resting space of hands while typing. The multi- touch features of the touch pad complement this product well.
As for system performance it provides a fairly high windows experience rating of 4.8 which is higher than other laptops in its category.
I have opted for the i3 processor and it boots really quick. The inbuilt 6 GB RAM is more than enough for multi-tasking
The 500 GB HDD provides ample space and doesn't give any sort of glitch.
This laptop doesn't heat up at all as it has a huge exhaust vent which takes all the heat away. The other upside is the 4 USB3.0 slots which help in transferring data at blazing fast speeds.
The wi-fi connectivity is very strong and the blue tooth works fine. The speakers are very loud and well placed below the chassis.
The laptop looks and fells strong and is very strong and looks like it can easily take a fall.
The battery easily lasts 3.45-4 hours on a full recharge.
This laptop is a bit heavy than other similar category laptops but is not that heavy.
If anyone is planning to buy a laptop I would definitely recommend this one without a second though.
Pros: programming, heavy internet surfing, web development, streaming video

Beware Windows 8!
on December 18, 2012
Posted by: rpduke
The hardware itself seems fine.
But watch out for Windows 8.
It is very different, and will frustrate you as you try to do things similarly to windows in the past.
And it basically forces you to setup a microsoft account in order to download things like skype, etc.
Worse than that, the account setup is quite buggy. And it's not possible to ask a question on the microsoft forums, because the account isn't properly setup! Yeesh!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Impressed....Love Dell
on November 4, 2012

I am going to start of by saying that I was an apple product kind of guy I had a mac book and after having it for about three years and realizing apple products are same every year with no new innovations, so I came to dell. It has been two weeks with my Inspiron 15 R laptop today and all I can say is it is amazing. I love the compact size of the laptop and the screen a beautiful LED that’s makes all the colors pop. The speakers on the laptop are outstanding. I used to always play my MacBook on high and even then I could not hear the music or videos being played but Dell’s speakers are amazing very loud. I actually don’t even put the volume all the way and the speakers are still extremely loud and clear. The touch pad is amazing nothing fancy just plain and simple with multi touch features which I enjoy. The one minor dislike I have with the laptop it’s just a tad bit bulky the weight is not a problem but it could have been a little thinner, but other than that it’s an amazing laptop. Dell have outdone themselves and made me a believer in their products and I am sold for life. I give the laptop a 5/5/

Clunky Navigating
on November 30, 2012
Posted by: JohnDH
The touch pad is clunky and very unresponsive unless hit very hard. This making using it clumsy. There is no scroll function on touch pad which requires you to always go to right side bar to slide page up and down. Although sometimes using the up-down keys work, but not always. And don't make mistake I did and order it with Windows 8. What a terrible, unintuitive operating system. Stick with Windows 7. 8 work okay with touchscreen, but it's terrible with mouse or touch pad. If I had to do all over, I would have stuck with an HP that I've always had before.

Regretted Buying it
on December 23, 2012

I am beginning to feel “I wish I never bought this laptop computer” Why? Because I cannot type a single word without the “text pointer” moving to another location; sometimes blocking the whole paragraph and wiping it off; wasting so much time retyping it. This last paragraph took me more than ten minutes to fix it. WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT THIS?
Pros: personal use
