I Love My TV

Picture is excellent. Love the 3D mode. Hard to go back to anything smaller. Had a 27" other brand for years. Glad to had made the upgrade.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, 3d option

Need a new screen after warranty period

I have a red line down the enter of the screen, technician tells me I need a new screen. Obviously, the cost is prohibitive, so I will have to get a new TV. I promise you, it will NOT be a Samsung! Technology that self destructs after two years, what innovation!

Broke after 18 months

The circuit board for my TV broke after 18 months, and the TV would not turn on. The problem was defective parts from Samsung and it cost me $400 to fix since it was outside of warranty (almost the cost of a new TV!) Although I like it when it is working, I would not recommend this product at all because of this issue.
Cons: Did not meet expectations

brightness fluctuates

Brighness fluctuates, mainly during dark scenes while watching movies. Eco sensor, power saving, and dynamic contrast are all off. Took first one back, second one does the same thing.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, 3d

Some red velvet cutains and some popcorn...

..and you are at the movies! Have had this for about six months and we have put it through its paces with streaming video, game systems and a library of BluRays and DVDs. Monday Night Football looks terrific! I have this paired up with a Samsung BD-D5500 BluRay and a simple Samsung 2.1 HW-D450 audio bar, all built into an oak bookcase at the end of a 15X25 foot room. It displays wonderful color and sounds good. Not great, just good. The glass bezel gives it a nice floating effect when wall mounted.
There is a noticable lag when using the remote for apps. But, you get used to it quickly. Not a deal breaker. Most of the apps are of no consideration. This model did not include a remote with a keyboard, making the Facebook app is cumbersome and all but unusable. Pandora literaly rocks and looks great doing it. Auxilary inputs may have been better placed at the bottom, or aimed downward for gaming systems, so as to put less stress on the connections than the current side ports. The built in speakers are merely OK. You'll want to upgrade the sound to get any punch, thrum, rumble or bass.
On a related note, the PN51D550 has a remote that is not compatible with the Samsung sound bar, and its seperate remote must be used.
Overall, I'm pleased with the options given as to picture size, vibrance, clarity, saturation, hue and contrast. It can make a big difference going from live NFL or oversaturated broadcast shows like "CSI Miami" to something like "The Dark Knight" or "True Grit" on BluRay.
I looked for a long while to find the right set for what I wanted, much to the chagrin of my wife. The bookcase couldn't be built until I knew which television was going inside. But now, Mama's happy, kid's are happy and I finally get to watch films on a good theater system.

This TV is the best!

After doing my research, this TV meets all of my needs.
The options are great, I can hook up my kids HDMI game consoles "2 of them", my HDMI Blue Ray, and still have other connection options. The picture is wonderful, the blacks are dark and rich, the colors are awesome and watching a movie with tons of color and action that goes really fast the TV kept up with the action no little blocks going across the screen.

Set this up today

Amazingly east to set up. Detected my home network & the Samsung home theater/ surrouns sound receiver. I use an outdoor antenna & the tuner picked up all kinds of stations. Remote is easy to use & intuitive. Picture is excellent. Very happy so far.
Pros: Realistic color, easy set up, works well with home theater unit, intuitive remote/ easy to use
