I purchased Roku XD player in October 2010 and use it to watch Netflix stream movies. I like the easiness of the initial setup and simplicity of control. At this point cannot think of anything I do not like.
Pros: Reliability, Great value, Compact, Easy to set up, High quality picture, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use
Cons: Want more video choices

The sensitivity of the WIFI receiver is exceptional. The Roku XD picked up networks that my laptops could not. Range of unit is excellent as I get maximum stars anywhere in my house. Installed four of these units and all work really well. Variety of free programming is excellent, some of the paid for content was reasonably priced ($3 per year), and the free music will satisfy virtually all music tastes!
Pros: Reliability, Variety of free programmi, SENSATIVITY
Cons: Remote is very directiona

Roku - I love you!

My wife and I love old movies and with Roku we have been able to easily watch Netflix movies that are available for instant viewing. The setup was simple, the picture quality great and I have recommended it to everyone I know. I don't like gadgets but I love Roku.

Works great. Love it! Had some trouble during setup, but my wireless modem was the problem - not the Roku unit. Ended up plugging the Roku unit into my modem, instead of using the wireless connection. Hope this helps others.

I purchased one of these for my parents, who wanted the ability to watch Netflix on their TV, but didn't like the idea of connecting a computer to the TV. Setting it up took only a few minutes (it took longer to download updates, than it took to connect the device). The remote is simple to use, but I've noticed that the remote works in a tighter angle and shorter range than other devices. Neither of my parents are very computer-savvy, yet they are able to navigate the menus and features of the Roku player with ease. It's being used on a 10 megabit Internet connection though a basic 802.11g router, and it's had no problem keeping up with streaming content.A lot of the content from Netflix is only standard-definition. If you're connected through HDMI, the low quality is easily seen. The HD content through Netflix does look better. I haven't tested the device with 1080 content yet.It's a great gift. If you haven't made the jump to full-fledged media PC yet, then get one for yourself while you're at it.
