We mainly use the Roku media player to stream Netflix TV shows and movies. We also use it quite often to listen to iTunes music from our computer, as well as radio podcasts of our favorite radio shows. We are very happy with our Roku media player and are most grateful to Dr. Leo for his raving reviews!
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, High quality picture, Easy to use, Compact, Easy to set up, Reliability, Video selection, Great value
I would recommend this to a friend!

This product takes your netflix subscription several levels up. For a long time I played online movies with my computer but finally bought a Roku after my laptop crashed. I regret using a laptop to watch netflix online!! this product is FANTASTIC, the quality of the picture if unbelievable (better than I ever saw with my laptop). The product itself is SO TINY and elegant looking. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO NETFLIX USERS!
Pros: Reliability, High quality picture, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Compact, Great value, Video selection
Cons: Need fast internet service

All of the pro things from above I like. The one CON thing is not a Roku problem but an ISP problem and I will try to explain. I normally have a good solid 3 MegaBit [MB] DSL connection which means the 3 MB's are all mine to share in my household. Not like cable which is shared with your neighbors. When streaming a Netflix movie I usually get 4 quality dots and the picture is quite good. Herein lays some of the problems. 1. There is no way to tell what the quality level of the picture is or what the 4 dot mean. Is it an up converted Standard Definition [SD] picture which my TV does automatically or 720p or 1080i/p. I don't have a clue. 2. Here is something else to consider. 2.1 My wife is on her computer, and; 2.2 Someone is also on my XBOX 360. Under these conditions of shared use of my 3 MB connection, the movie quality can deteriorate substantially. IN SUMMARY A. Does the box work; yes; and the picture quality is very good - how good is unknown. B. Netflix is not currently streaming 1080p as of Nov 12, 2010 per their technical support personnel. I recommend you buy at least the XD player since 1080p is coming soon. C. It sure would be nice if a future firmware update would have some type of quality indicator available. D, If you are more than 50 years old like me, it might just be difficult to tell the difference between an unconverted SD DVD, 720p or 1080i/p signal from more that 10' away. Content is much more important than resolution - at least to me. E. There are so many new channels being added every week that I have given up trying to sample everything. Roku is dong an excellent job making new content available. Only thing I would recommend would be a weekly updated web page describing all the new content. F. Would really like to have some live feeds from places like CNN, Headline News and FOX. G. The standard [no fee] HULA portal should be a channel. I really like my Roku box a lot more than this review would indicate. It is on my 52" HD set and you CAN NOT have it back - EVER! I sometimes wonder if I should have bought the XDS model with the USB port hoping that someday it would be able to interface with a nice 160 GB 2 1/2" USB powered hard disk. Just wondering?
Pros: Easy to use, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact

Does a really great job of streaming netflix.Needs DLNA -- this has been hinted at, but notyet delivered. I'd like to view my photo collection more conveniently.I'm not that crazy about thelimitations of the "channel model". For example,I would like to see things offered for streamingon PBS.org, but without an explicit channel, there's no way.
Pros: High quality picture, Easy to use, Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi, Great value
