Bad luck with Roku XS

I have a Roku XR which is an older model. The XR is outstanding and performs flawlessly. Based on my positive experience I ordered the new XD. I returned the first one for a replacement; when that didn't work I returned both and received a refund. The issue is that neither unit would successfully connect to my network and the internet. So they were essentially bricks - useless and non-functional. Furthermore, neither unit recognized my wireless N network. I should note that I have a new Linksys E-3000 router and 6 computers and a Roku XR that all connect flawlessly.
Pros: High quality picture
Cons: Inconsistent performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Two days, three tech support representatives, was unable to get ROKU XD to connect reliably. Had other problems with ROKU XS. Overall experience with ROKU items... disappointing experience. Corporate will not answer telephone, a disservice to the many of us unfortunates that trusted this company.
Pros: Smaller Unit, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact
Cons: Difficult to set up, Support unable to help, Need fast internet service, Inconsistent performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No Closed Captions!

I bought the Roku because of Netflix hyping streaming movies to your TV. There are even ads showing senior citizens watching the movies. Well, they don't say that they offer hardly any programs with closed captions. Like over 30 million other Americans I am hard of hearing. Lack of captions, makes the Roku practically useless, except for foreign movies and silent films. What's more, I'm brushed off by customer service who give me nothing but the run around and, in fact, appear ignorant of their own capabilities.
