Very easy to use quick to set up! our family loves this thing! Our 5 year old wont watch normal tv anymore he only likes the roku!!! we are going to get rid of Directv and only use this!!! $80 a month vs our $9 netflix membership, and maybe a HULU subscription for $8 and we can watch what we want when we want!!! way better then NCIS every night and Law&Order reruns! we bought one for my mother-in-law and we would like to get one for my mother and brother also!!!

We have been using the XD for over a week now. Very small and easy to set up. Cut cable over a year ago. We have a great selection of broadcast channels over the airwaves and now we have what ever we used to watch and more with the Roku. Our Netflix account is only $7.99/month compared to $50.00/month when we had Satelite TV. Amazon VOD is better than PayPerView, and TV.com offers great classics and current network programming. The price is unbeatable. This is the future! Don't miss cable or it's bill at all!!!

I bought the Roku XD for my second home where we spend most of our vacations. It is in a rural area and the only TV option is satellite or antenna. The satellite prices were too high for the amount of time we are actually there, so we bought an antenna and a Roku. This was a smart move. We can use our Netflix subscription to watch movies and shows and still get a couple networks with the antenna. The free Newscaster channel helps us stay current on world news and gives us the freedom to watch nighly newscasts at our convenience. After we experienced the utility of the Roku XD, we bought another one for our primary home. After having it for a month we decided terminate our contract with Dish Network - who had just raised the rates for the second time in 13 months. We bought an antenna and installed it in the attic. We get great reception of all the local channels and view extra shows and movies on Hulu Plus and Netflix. It is enough TV for us and even with those two subscription channels I am still paying about 25% of what monthly Dish service was charging.

Cons: Want more video choices

Easy to set up. Great to use

I bought this product and installed it so that I can move it between 3 different TVs in our home. I exercise to it, streaming exercise videos as well as use it to watch movies and check weather stats. I recommended this player to two friends, both of whom had trouble installing it because, on their sophisticated TVs with surround sound systems, they had to hire AV specialists to get the player to work properly. Note that for both friends, the player worked fine on their simpler TVs with no AV receiver or extra speaker systems to deal with. It's only the sophisitcated TVs with surround sound that required special help (and more money for installation). Also, one friend could not get wireless reception to one of her TVs, even though her router was in the adjacent room. She even bought a newer router and still could not get the signal to that one TV. She ended up having Ethernet cable routed through her crawlspace to get the signal to her Roku's ethernet port. With that route, it worked fine at the problem TV location. I would highly recommend this product because once it is connected properly, it works like a charm. But I learned (thorough my friends) that specific installation problems can exist, not with the Roku player itself but in marrying it to some more sophisitcated TV setups.
