Purchased one of the 1st ROKU units (Roku 1) for our main TV in a large den, use via WIFI located in our home office. We have had it for about 3-4 years now and works just like new. Also purchased a 2nd unit (ROKU LT) for our basement TV, again works great a breeze to setup. Note, were we live we can only get 3MBPS speed, yet it works seemlessly even in our basement, amazing. Everyone should have ROKU units and ditch the dish/cable and save a fortune. We will be adding a 3rd unit soon for our upstairs bedroom.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, Reliability, Great value, Easy to set up, High quality picture, Video selection, Easy to use
The Roku is a great and easy to use device. However, I have always had quite a few technical issues. The 1st generation had a lot of issues and froze up all the time; I constantly had to reset it. The 2nd generation seems much better but I just had my first problem with it when it wouldn't connect to internet. After trying normal troubleshooting of disconnecting power from Roku and Wireless Router, I contacted support, which had me move the Roku 4 feet away and try again. This amazingly worked; however, I don't think it's feasible to keep your Roku 4 feet from the TV. However, when it's working it is great and simple to use and we use it everyday instead of cable.
Pros: Great value, Easy to set up, Compact, Easy to use, High quality picture
I have the cheapest Roku. I love it! I have had it about 2 years now and have never had an issue with it. I love it and would recommend it to anyone. As a matter of fact, I recommend it to folks all the time!
