Other comments tell you how to cheat to get US version and content. I agree with those comments. Be careful when you watch review on internet because they test the US version, and of course, it's very good!!! My review is only about canadian version: 1) As Canadian, we pay more than American for the same product 2) As Canadian, we get less content. The free content is not necessary interesting! 3) As Canadian, we get worse OS. The one-stop search does NOT exist on canadian version 4) Roku app on android tablet can run only PHOTO and MUSIC, NOT VIDEO. 5) The photo is not shown as full on my tv, just a little square in the middle of the tv. 6) Not even one canadian content: CBC, Radio-Canada, CTV, V, TVQ, etc ... 7) If i'm not wrong, no french content either! 8) Many channels are specified as FREE but when you try to use, they ask to to pay to use it! Very disappointed!
Pros: Easy to use, Compact, High quality picture, Video selection, Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi, Great value
Cons: Want more video choices, No Canadian content, No One-stop Search
I had an old Roku so this was an upgrade and I am glad I did. The picture quality is suberb to the old one and streaming is constant where the old one would stop to reload. I am glad I upgraded.
Pros: Easy to set up, High quality picture, Compact, Easy to use, Great value, Reliability
I have 3 ROKU players so as I go from room to room I won't miss the program I have on. Love being able to get a few channels my cable company doesn't carry.
Pros: Reliability, Great value, High quality picture, Compact, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Easy to set up, Video selection
I'm cheap. I hated paying almost $100/month for my wife's TV (I read, I don't watch). I bought a Roku box and set it up on her TV in the bedroom and got a 30 trial of Netflix. She loved it, she was able to watch all the movies she wanted, and watch entire seasons of some of her favorite shows. I got rid of the Dish and am saving the cost of the box every month.
Pros: Great value, High quality picture, Easy to use, Built in Wi-Fi, Reliability, Compact, Easy to set up, Video selection
We returned it. It was not easy to set up as it wouldn't connect. After set up it kept freezing. Seemed a little too basic for a product that costs as much as an Apple TV. We were hoping for more. Too bad. Wanted to support someone other than Apple.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Compact
Cons: Difficult to set up, Want more video choices, Inconsistent performance
I got my Roku box more than 5 years ago and I still love it! I hated dealing with Netflix and the DVDs back and forth; they were always getting lost or arriving damaged. Roku takes that pain away by giving me top-quality video streaming through Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. It was a godsend when I spent two months on the coach recovering from a long illness. Roku is not perfect, though. Sometimes response times are slow or content is not available (like on Christmas Eve!). Nevertheless, it's well worth the $99 price and the $8 subscription to Netflix.
Pros: Great value, Easy to set up, High quality picture, Easy to use, Compact
