poor quality product. keeps breaking

unfortunately i have found that the Roku player is a poor quality device. i have received a replacement player within the free 30 day money back guratantee and then 4 months later the remote failed to operate. they replaced it for free [...] i dont expect the player to be a long term option for viewing netflix. i would recommend a video game player that is capable of neflix in the future.
Pros: Compact, Built in Wi-Fi
Cons: Inconsistent performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

NETFLIX SUCKS- AMAZON GREAT

I bought this to mainly watch netflix in bedroom. Tried a few dvd players that had wi-fi net flix on. Returned them then gave this a try. Well Netflix sucks but Amazon worth keeping it for. It's better then going to video store. PROS:Set up a breeze, compact, easy to move from room to room, Amazon streams wireless smoothly. CONS: If your looking for a wireless movie device for NETFLIX LOOK ELSEWHERE. You have to connect direct to router. So far most channels offered don't run smooth.
Pros: Easy to set up, Great value, Easy to use, High quality picture
Cons: WI-FI not consistent, Want more video choices, Inconsistent performance

Buy the XDS instead

I like the Roku a lot, but when I bought the XD, I didn't know that it only lets you keep 40 channels in your lineup vs. 120 channels for the XDS, and the product comparison on the Roku website didn't point that out (found out by reading a third-party site). Had I known, I would've spent the extra [$] for the XDS to get room for an additional 80 channels in my lineup -- no more need to keep deleting channels in order to make room for new ones.
Pros: XLNT Netflix streaming, Easy to set up, Easy to use, Great value, High quality picture, Compact, Built in Wi-Fi
Cons: Inconsistent performance

Great Product

After 3 days I connected via the DVD player and olé! Now I'm delighted. I pay $10/mo to get one DVD mailed plus unlimited on-line movies. Also I get 30 minute BBC comedy programmes in 3 pieces via "Related Videos" on YouTube. It would be nice if you could control the aspect ratio when a movie only occupies 2/3 screen.
Pros: Video selection, Great value, Built in Wi-Fi, Reliability, Compact, Easy to use
Cons: Start-up support

Saving a ton on cable- satellite bill.

Set up was easy as was getting my Netflix and Hulu Plus accounts connected. I cancelled cable and use this as my primary source of TV entertainment. It has already paid for itself in one month. Now all I pay for is $8 for Netflix and $8 for Hulu Plus. The Roku system does freeze up from time to time but not so frequently that it is a big bother. I just unplug it (there is no off switch) and it usually boots right back up in a matter of seconds. There were a few times that my Netflix choice had trouble loading but that was on Netflix's end and they sent an email explaining it. It appears to have been fixed. For less than $100, Roku is well worth it and I highly recommend it.

Cons: Inconsistent performance, Freezes

i use this over cable. renting videos from amazon is easy. makes netflix even better. i recomend this to all of my friends and family. most have gotten one and love it.
