On initial set-up, I used an HDMI cable to connect to my TV. After two weeks, the HDMI connection stopped working, and I had to use other ways of connecting to my TV. Even when HDMI connection was working, video quality was not impressive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

i love my roku. I was a roku user very early on when very few even knew of its existence. i still think it is widely unheard of but it is catching. it would be cool if you could watch the videos that are available from the PlayOn app without having to get it through your home computer. it lags using the app since you have to go from the router to the computer then the computer to the roku. i love the roku. i tell everyone i know about it and i bring it everywhere. it is so easy to set up. the first time was simple, and every time i go somewhere else its easy. once you set up the roklu for different wifi, like at my friends houses, its PLUG AND WATCH. Love this thing. I have the roku 2XS. its not out anymore, and thats too bad, but the roku 3 is here and i am definitely considering buying a second one.
