Off of the dish & on Roku...we're happy

We kept telling our dish provider we wanted ala carte programming. Now we have it with Roku and it's cheaper. It was easy and the choices are growing weekly. I'm catching up on all the "24" episodes, besides watching movies and news. We are very happy.
Pros: Great value, Easy to set up, Easy to use, High quality picture

ROKU is TERRIFFIC!!! I've never bought cable or any type of pay TV ever. Between "working" and "sleeping" and my other activities, I simply don't want a monthly bill for something as unimportant as the mindless entertainment television provides. I'd recently discovered the joy of free content via my laptop. I'd been looking for a way to stream content from my computer directly to the TV when I came across ROKU which was much more affordable than the hardware needed to set up computer transfers, plus, I don't need to keep the computer on to watch most internet TV via ROKU. I do prefer the older ROKU models to the ROKU 2 due to the firmware issue that blocks some free internet content in your newer products. I'd purchased both ROKU devices and returned the ROKU 2. For those that plan to pay for Netflix and Hulu Plus, any Roku will work well, but for frugal users, this model is better and works with a software download (they offer either monthly or one time fee) to your computer that will get you more free content. I have recommended this to many of my friends. Really, a great product that gives a wide variety of on-demand content!!!!

not so happy!!!

I keep getting a 'No Signal' and a blue screen. I've learned the routine- unplug the power source, change the hdmi cables and sometimes the system reboots. Now when I call for support, your rep tells me, I have a limited time for phone support. It's beginning to look like it's not much of a deal to me.

Cons: Inconsistent performance, Want more video choices
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Discouraged at first but now I love it

I had problems in setup, but to be honest, it may have been an issue with my server not correcting. My friends who are not techies had no problems and had it running five minutes out of the box.
Pros: High quality picture, Compact
Cons: Problems in setup

I use it to watch HD TV, but wanted something that would support both HDMI and AV cables. This allows me to watch & monitor a small TV when someone is using the Big Screen. It will not do both at the same time, but that is fine.
Pros: Easy to use, Compact, Video selection, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to set up, Great value, Reliability, High quality picture
