Frustated.

Code for setting-up was rejected 5 times before success.Now informed that I do not have the correct account address when I login but that same address, charwood3[@], is displayed at the top of the form.Have received this survey request at this same address!!!
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult to set up

I have reset Roku box 3 times, all 3 times i get a black blank screen. If your product is not ready for prime time & consistant dont put it on the market. Lots of issues as i read the single stars reviews, interesting you start with th 5..are these real users???

- I purchased this unit to access my NetFlix Canadian account. It won't. There was no upfront advisement by ROKU on this. This means it is basically useless and, if returned, shipping costs = cost of unit. - Wireless compatability is limited: It would not recognise my NetGear wireless router and had to be connected by Ethernet cable. - Disappointing and expensive experience.
Pros: Easy to set up, Compact, Easy to use
Cons: No Canadian Netflix acces, WiFi compatability poor, Want more video choices

Disappointing

After hearing all of the praise about Roku players, I finally took the plunge and purchased a Roku XD. While the Roku is easy to setup and use, I ultimately found it disappointing. The biggest problem for me was the lack of content. Though I signed up for Hulu+ and Netflix trials, I found the lack of content frustrating. Hulu+ includes many of the shows I watch, but will only stream them in SD or restricts viewing to desktop computers. Netflix has a decent library of streaming movies, but video quality is mediocre, even for the limited selection of HD content, and I had a tough time finding anything that wasn't limited to 2.0 sound. Roku would be great if it would stream media from my PC or allow me to ditch my cable subscription completely, but at this point it falls short due to the lack of content. I ended up returning mine and, so far, haven't missed it...
Pros: Compact, Great value, Easy to set up, Easy to use
Cons: Want more video choices
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This never works when you want it to. We have virtually given up. Will not connect to the internet wirelessly. When we plug it into the modem it only works 10% of the time. Not sure what makes it work or not but it sucks.

Don't buy one

I have had two Rokus and none of them have perform well.They don't show in HD like they said, I have the fastest internet connection there is, and they still don't brodcast in HD.It was a waste of my money to buy a Roku.Would not recommend to anybody.

RUN!!! SAVE YOURSELVES!!! [...].This player worked GREAT for about two weeks - so good that I bought 2 more from [...]. Then, suddenly, everything stopped - and restarted - and stopped again - then restarted, no wait, it didn't restart, it went back to the first screen... This happened on Netflix, Amazon VOD, Hulu, Pub-a-Dub and other channels as well. It isn't just Netflix, as the forums might lead you to believe.Roku "support" advised that I reset the machine, reset my modem, reset my router, set my DNS to 206.wh.ate.ver. On and on the list went; it's my ISP problem, it's a router problem, it's a wireless problem - according to "support" it was everything but the Roku player. Yet, my laptops connect wirelessly without a problem, my S**y BluRay w/ wireless connects AND STREAMS without issue...how could it be my ISP and/or wireless?Read the forums CAREFULLY before you choose to buy. It seems many users encountered connectivity issues about the same time I did (late December 2010 - early January 2011). I'm no expert, but I'm guessing they sold way more of these than they can currently support and don't have the courtsey to admit it.After trying all the "fixes" offered by forum users and by Roku "support" (e-mail to and from Roku for about 15 days), [...] So, if you choose to buy, make sure you've put it through it's paces before you return window closes - they are completely inflexible on returns.
Pros: Worked great for 2 weeks, Could anger the Dali Lama

RUKU XD Works very well

My wife and I like to sit and watch a movie in the evening.We have the Netflix mail program but we use the RUKU while waiting for the mail. I have shown my system to others and they were impressed with the ease of use and quality of presentation.The only thing that I would like to see improved is communications between the consumer and the RUKU company. When I started my set up I ran into problems and tried to contact RUKU for answers or some assistance but after 4 Emails with no responce from RUKU over a three week period I turned to the service end of RUKU and was very pleased with the help I got but I was still buged with loosing what I was watching and haveing to wait for relosd. I then turned to my cable company who sent a technition and did a whole check of my system from the input to the house to my T.V. set and found that my router was week ( and old ) so I bought a new one. Now I am happy my wife is happy and my two GREATGRAND CHILDREN are happy that they no longer have to wait for DORA AND Diego to reload Thanks for a very good system
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Reliability, Compact, Great value
Cons: Need fast internet service
