Boxee is better

"Doesn't require a PC" on your page is a bald faced lie. The all free content blows, and the paid content directs you to a PC to verify subscriptions. NOWHERE are we warned BEFORE purchase that a credit card or PAY PAL account will be needed for initial setup - and you have to backdoor to remove it (and repeat process if you need to factory reset). MANY CHANNELS and TV SHOWS could EASILY be added that are ad supported (like the Boxee TV Show library has most prime time current shows), but Roku will not do so (I'm guessing so customers will feel forced to add more pay channels which makes Roku more money). The whole Roku experience stinks of scammy business behavior. The device has less free choices than Boxee; is slower; lacks a full QWERTY on the remote, customer support is less available, customer support is less helpful. Whoever is running the show at Roku must be under the impression that they have no competitor, because not only is Boxee better on every level; but many new Blu Ray players duplicate much of the Roku functionality (less so for Boxee). The writing is on the wall for Roku unless a serious revamp is done. Sure you're doing OK for now, but it will catch up.
Pros: Reliability
Cons: Difficult to set up, Difficult to use, Want more video choices
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this product today after having a friend suggest it to me. I wanted to be able to stream movies from the internet onto my HDTV without investing a lot of money in a game console or blue-ray player. This is a perfect alternative. For around $80, the streaming is excellent... like watching from a DVD. There is some color issues, but I think once I purchase an HDMI cable, that will eliminate that problem. Great little compact device. I just wish Netflix offered more movie streaming choices...but that is another issue. :)
Pros: Easy to set up, Compact, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Great value
Cons: Want more video choices
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Roku has a better video selection than an Apple TV does. In addition, the video quality is better and the streaming has zero glitches! Check out some of the private channels and it's head over heels better than other products.
Pros: Reliability, Easy to set up, High quality picture, Great value, Easy to use, Compact, Built in Wi-Fi, Video selection
I would recommend this to a friend!

In general I like it. It is better for someone who wants supplemental content rather that main line content. That is what I use it for. The Netflix interface is fine. I was not able to find anything I liked on Hulu or Hulu+, or Crackle. Be careful about buying one. I recommend trying it out first. Buy it at a store so you can quickly return it if you need to. I do plan to keep it though.
Pros: Easy to use, Compact, Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi, Reliability
Cons: Need more content, Website didn't match Act
I would recommend this to a friend!

Better than DVD Player Streaming

Purchased mainly to stream Netflix on the TV. Originally got a Blue-ray player with streaming capabilities, but it didn't work very well, so we got a Roku. Works pretty well; refuses to connect to Netflix about once every two weeks, even when it's accessible via the computer. Pretty good video resolution most of the time. Could use access to more video sources - and an off switch. Overall, it works like it is supposed to, most of the time.
Pros: Compact, Easy to use, Easy to set up
Cons: Want more video choices, Inconsistent performance
I would recommend this to a friend!

Use it to stream videos to my living room TV from a router in another part of the house. Have had no problems with it. I like the built in options for other channels.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, Easy to set up, High quality picture, Easy to use
