* Need for two Roku XD for separate large screen HDTV locations. Finished with 150+ satellite TV channels of mostly poor choices for high monthly cost. * Value, size, convenience, future potential, innovation, * Love the menu setup and screensaver options! Superb iPad APP ( DVPRemote by Phil Irey) to add a great wireless remote for Roku!
Pros: Easy to set up, Great value, Compact, Easy to use
Cons: Want more video choices

A Good Addition To TV Entertainment

Works okay with very slow DSL, the faster less crowded wireless channels the more reliable the player. Enjoy being able to stop/start movie during a viewing even for days. My first player quit working in 5 months, Roku Support worked with me & ordered a replacement which arrived in less than a week.
Pros: Video selection, Built in Wi-Fi, High quality picture, Easy to use, Compact
Cons: Inconsistent performance

Getting It To Work - Not Easy

Hooking up the box to the TV was simple. Connecting to our wireless network - not simple. I had to call Roku and the Tech who helped me was very patient. We spent an hour on the phone. He told me how to bring up my router information thorugh the intranet and change settings, he walked me thorugh every step. Now we are connected to Netflicks. Worked well night one, we haven't used it more then that. Set up is not for the faint of heart. You do need to provide a credit card number during set up, but the Roku Tech said we could go in and delete it. I am afraid of messing up anything, so will leave it alone. My daughter recommended the HD box, but [...] only had the XD. We probably should have ordered on line and saved some $$$.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, High quality picture, Compact, Easy to use
Cons: Difficult to set up

Great product

It was so easy to set up: I did it myself which is saying something since I had trouble with the DVR set up!!! My son wants one for his own now, he is watching old series & really enjoying them. Thank you for letting me get rid of my cable company.
Pros: Easy to set up, Great value, Easy to use
Cons: No live news or weather

will not stand behind unit. zero stars.

i have recieved two of these units in a row, and they will not stand behind the warranty of the first unit. i have a replacement unit less than one year old based upon the serial number but they will not replace it. basically they will replace the unit once, and hope the replacement does not fail.

Cons: Inconsistent performance

lots of radio frequency emissions - bad

poor circuit design. i cannot have the device any where near the TV, as the radio frequency interference is very bad on this device. i question if it has passed all of the FCC testing on RFI. you don't want to use this device near any radios, HDTV tuners, and other recievers of the like. with appropriate equipment, you can eaves drop on this device, therefore it is far to risky to use such a device in any sort of government or other applications requiring high system availability. if it would let me, i would give it zero stars.

Watch mostly Netflix movies. Like to see more channels added , esp. espn360 and/or Foxsports so I can watch European Soccer games. Other than so far so good.
