NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKS :(

After six hours of frustrating attempts I finally realized that 1: my internet service was slow 2: my old wireless router was not up to the job 3: my modem was very outdated for all this new generation of equiptment. Multiple calls and hour to tech support on all three and eventually converting to AT&T U Verse finally did the trick. My Roku now works fine and I am enjoying the show. Also I forgot to mention I had to get a new computor, everything was about eight yars old, time for an upgrade. Companies like Roku that sell these new products should warn buyers that they need to have all the links in the chain up to par, that is internet serv., modem, router, and computor as well.
Pros: Video selection, Compact, Great value, Reliability, High quality picture
Cons: Difficult to set up, Want more video choices, Need fast internet service

Didn't work - tech support didn't help

Got my Roku today - returning it tonight. I set it up, it recognized my wireless, but couldn't connect to it. I tried online tech support, reset 1 modem setting and tech support disconnected on me. Tried tech support again, went through same steps as initially, tried a couple more things, and they had me reset my modem name which disconnected me. Did the same thing a third time, no luck. Fourth time the tech person told me my Roku was defective. The process took all evening. Time wasted - kinda lousy.
Cons: Wifi didn't work
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am very pleased with the unit but now that I have it and see how good it is, I wish I got the HD model

Frustrated with higher and higher satellite bills, and seeing a huge price difference between DIRECTV's Extra Innings and MLB.TV, I convinced my wife to try the Roku. I was a bit worried about the video quality but felt it was worth the one-year trial as the savings on the baseball package alone would pay for the Roku. We have had the Roku two months now and we absolutely love it! Surprisingly, my wife has fallen in love with Hulu Plus while I use it primarily to watch my beloved Orioles from Indiana. The picture quality is really good, although it does not appear that MLB.tv broadcasts in 1080p yet (it's 720p). We did have to up the speed of our Internet service but the unforeseen additional benefits (so many more shows on Hulu than expected; can watch any baseball game from this season at any time) far outweigh the additional cost. We are also confident that we can now go down to a bare-bones cable/satellite package so we'll actually end up ahead. The only thing preventing 5-stars is really not Roku's fault - I want my baseball in 1080p. But for the cost savings this device provides, it is an OUTSTANDING value!

connection started to drop off to level 2 and then failed after 2 months. service call had me reset the roku with new installation, and now back up to level 4 performance.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, High quality picture, Great value, Easy to set up, Compact

This was way easier than setting up Netflix on the Blu-ray player. It took about 5 minutes to set-up. You can also watch hulu on this, which I couldn't do on the blu-ray player either.

We use it for Netflix, Hulu Plus for recent tv episodes and Pandora. We went with the XD for the enhanced remote which works great, although the rewind feature could be improved by increasing the memory buffer so that rewinding would be smoother for a longer time. We are saving $80/mo by getting rid of Dish Network. We already had high speed cable internet at up to 20 Mb/s at $67/mo from Comcast, which works great with the Roku. Very seldom do we encounter buffering issues, and when we do it is temporary.
