Wonderful little machine

This is a very easy to use device but the set up was just a bit too difficult. My otherwise very techie husband was stumped for a while. I would suggest the set up improves but otherwise it was just great. And, we liked it so much we bought one as a gift to my parents. To make up for the difficult set up the customer service was pretty good and they actually did follow up which is amazing.
Pros: Great value, Video selection, Easy to use, Reliability, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, High quality picture
Cons: Want more video choices, Difficult to set up

Great idea, 'MOST' of the time

Sometimes has a mind of its own. Occasionally it just will not connect to the internet. May take 4 or 5 reconnects or reboots to get the connection (all other wireless in the house will still work great). Then later (hours or next day) it works all the time every time! I believe it has some connection to the web site that it has to connect through being bandwidth limited. I still like it though! If you can, have your computer right next to you for the setup. I also like having my FREE Pandora account running through along with Netflix. I would like to see more free content offered.

To watch Netflix movies. I like the fact that I can search the Netflix library beyond those in my instant queque and that they categorize movies by type to browse.

The Good and the Bad

The good with the Roku XD is the high quality HD picture, better than the original version. Also the 8 second rewind can be hit 4-5 times allowing you to skip back 30 seconds or more, much better than the clunky scene finder. The bad is that when the unit has been down for any significant amount of time it will require a reset of the wi-fi signal, requiring you to go through the setup steps. This occurs about 1/2 the time of logins to the Roku device. The home screen comes on with the channel list but you cannot open up the channels without reset. Inconvenient, but not a deal killer. Hopefully Roku will make a patch to fix this. In the past any customer service issues have been resolved quickly via e-mail. I have not contacted them about the reset issue, hoping it will be resolved on the theory that others are experiencing the same thing.
