Cuts off during movie for better quality

It cuts off several times during the movie to find better quality. Very annoying.
Pros: Compact, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Great value
Cons: Want more video choices, Difficult to set up, Inconsistent performance

We use our Roku player daily and really love it. It works very well. We've only had a couple of problems with watching Netflix videos, but technical support was helpful and fast. It would be nice if the non-fee Hulu could be added as a channel. Also, it might be good to somehow add a Netflix 'search' button on the remote control. I noticed that the 'search' feature on the Netflix channel at least has its own row now, so it is a bit easier to get to, but it's still not as convenient as it could be, especially since there doesn't seem to be any easy way to switch up the titles or to remove unwanted movies from categories. And that would be a nice feature to add, too! If I didn't want to watch a particular movie the last 20 times I scrolled through a category, chances are I don't ever want to watch it. It'd be nice not to see those passed-over titles all the time. Those are fairly minor annoyances, though. Overall, we are very happy with Roku.

Works better than AppleTV 2G

We replaced our DirecTV with both an AppleTV and a Roku. The AppleTV takes forever to stream Netflix and then buffers every 30 seconds or so. And forget about streaming from the iTunes store. The Roku Netflix, on the same network, streams fast and does not buffer once it starts playing. And streaming HD from Amazon Video on Demand is equally as fast with a great picture. I'm taking the AppleTV back. The Roku does everything we need from cartoons for our 3 kids to TV shows with HuluPlus and Amazon VOD.

I haven't figured out a way to turn off the player to save energy (without unplugging it). Remote has no "off" button.I wish there were more seasons of TV series (but that is Netflix, not Roku).I do not sit all day watching movies, but this is plenty and convenient.Anyways, this is NOT a waste of money. Ditch your cable bill and save you some bucks.

i purchased this for my mom of who is 68 years young for christmas. she has never been able to operate new electronical devises with ease until this. she has retured her cable box because she uses this for everything. she can check the weather, watch old western shows and movies, listen to music, watch netflix, and hulu plus there are other apps but this is all she uses right know.
