Mostly awesome (with one big problem)

Bought the Roku XD as the result of a Netflix promotion. We use it mainly for Netflix Instant viewing, and it excels at that. YouTube video quality is mediocre, and HD videos do not play in HD. Same for Picasa and Facebook pictures, which ought to be delivered in higher resolution. Biggest problem however, is that the unit "times out" and produces a green screen if not viewed for a while. Seems to affect only HDMI connected units. No amount of clicking around the remote will restore functionality. The only remedy is to unplug the unit to force a hard restart. From what I've read, this issue has plagued the units from the beginning, and Roku is uninterested in fixing it.

Cons: Low resolution issues, Inconsistent performance

I live in an Apple household and considered Apple TV, but there were more channel choices with Roku.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use
Cons: Want more video choices

Great selection of both Netflix and other channels, many free. Interesting that it has no On/Off swtich and that you unplug it/replug it to reboot (if needed). So far it's been a great wireless device.
Pros: Video selection, Compact, High quality picture, Easy to use, Great value, Reliability, Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi

Besides Internet, who needs Cable?

I have this hooked up to a HUGE 1080p TV in the living room and Internet-connected via Wi-Fi to an 802.11n wireless access point. Netflix HD movie streaming looks great, Hulu Plus TV is awesome, and Pandora rocks. EXTREMELY easy to use--my kids and my wife have no problems navigating channels and content without me. I even convinced my retired 60+ year old parents to get one, and they can't believe how great it is. They haven't called me at all for "tech support". The geek in me wishes the front had a brighter status light, but it's not really needed--this thing is either on or not, and I just leave it on all the time. One perceived drawback is that the interface feels a bit sluggish. Most people won't notice this, I bet. The sub $100 price makes this little magic box a steal. Unbelievable. I'm not even bothering with an Apple TV or Google TV or Boxee Box whatever. There are channel "hacks" that will let you stream local network content. And with Netflix and Hulu just a click away from displaying on my living room TV, I canceled the TV portion of my cable bill--all I need is the Internet and my Roku XD. I'm set.

I just got this for Christmas and I love it. Easy to set up. Runs netflix terrifically. I have also been utilizing the pandora feature. Need to check out a lot of the other applications - most you have to pay for. The size is so small, I was expecting bigger, so it is great, just slides nicely under my TV, you barely even notice it. My one issue is there are no controls on the box, only the remote control - and we all know we misplace remotes constantly! Otherwise so far so great!

I use my ROKU mainly for Netflix. I tried out HULU plus but between the lack of programming for me, and the commercials it is not worth it. Hands down this is the easiest way to watch Netflix and other media on your TV. Even the least tech savvy could set this thing up. NHL channel has some real issues so be warned. But this is not a ROKU issue it is the NHL channel. I have friends with other streaming devices and we tested this and they had the same issues I have on their device. You will be frustrated if you want this for streaming the NHL channel. Overall a tremendous value for streaming Netflix and other content. Plenty of free channels, music and games to make it worth while.

Roku delivers netflix at breaknet speed. I love listening to the other radio choices that are available through Tune In.
