Good device, it came down to this or a fruit related device. Roku ran a special, couldnt pass it up. Use this in the bedroom. It works well, the remote is well made, and doesnt need to be pointed at the unit. THe only downside is its always on. this unit does put out heat sitting there, its obviously not much, but its still a user. The user interface for a certain movie service is well laid out and easy to navigate. I would go so far as to say its smoother than the video game based viewing device situated under a large flat panel in the living room. It said not to be specific..........about anything. A usb port would be the icing on the cake.
Pros: Easy to set up, Compact, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use
Cons: No off button

Streaming performance is great. Selection menu is overly complicated as used with Netflixs.
Pros: Compact, Reliability, Built in Wi-Fi, High quality picture, Great Picture Quality, Easy to set up
Cons: Difficult to use, Overly complicated menu

Easy to use overall

720P only? Even with 7Mb wired internet connection? It looks fabulous, but I can get the same content at 1080i (on Netflix) on my Acer Revo, set up as an HTPC with the same exact connection. XD is a good compromise of ease of use and picture quality just the same. My wife finds it easier to use - me too - than the Acer Revo. How about adding Hulu standard service?
Pros: Easy to use, Great value, Video selection
Cons: Only 720P even w7Mb, Want more video choices

Roku XD Player

This was my second Roku player. I considered a blu-ray player with internet capability, but decided to purchase a more basic blu-ray player with a second Roku player instead. The first player (used in the bedroom) has been easy to use and quite versatile, so I knew what to expect. We use the Roku players for Netflix, Pandora and Newscaster. They produce good video quality even with an internet connection that is marginal in speed.

Rules my TV over everything else

Roku is hands down my favorite Web device for my TV. Through work I have access to just about every device out there (Apple TV, Boxee via D-Link,Popbox, that Verismo one, etc)and the Roku box is the only I've ever purchased for myself. I own two and have given three out as gifts to family members that have canceled cable but kept the Internet. Now with Hulu Plus, the device is untouchable here in the US.
Pros: Video selection, Size, Easy to set up, Easy to use, Great value
Cons: Searching

Exactly what I wanted

I simply wanted a device that made it easy to watch Netflix on my TV. Not only does it accomplish that with ease and elegance, the additional services such as pandora and other free channels has made this my primary way to watch TV. I'm seconds away from canceling cable all together.
