Reliable and pleasantly surprising!

I use this Roku XD on my primary tv in the living room, and it has given a stable performance with little to no snags, shown consistently good to great video quality and offered a few pleasant surprises along the way. I use it for Netfilx and I often use the Pandora and TuneIn Radio channels for music and radio programs. I am very satisfied with all the channels that I use regularly. I do wish that there were more channels available, especially ones that provided both free and premium service.
Pros: Easy to use, Easy to set up, Compact, High quality picture, Reliability, Built in Wi-Fi, Video selection
Cons: Want more channels, Want more video choices

I use it to watch movies on my TV instead of my computer. It allowed me to cancel my subscription to cablevision and save money! I wish it worked faster.
Pros: Reliability, Easy to use, Easy to set up, Great value, Compact, Save Money, High quality picture
Cons: Need fast internet service, Works slowly

Bought this model because of the wireless would prevent me from having to run a cable. I have 801.11n service with awesome signal on laptops beside the Roku, but the Roku couldn't operate and stream from any service on wireless. Ended up having to run a hard wire anyhow. Suggest to just remove the wireless functionality as most people will get discouraged about the performance of it and become opponents of the box, tossing it for the more user friendly and better performing Apple TV.
Pros: Compact, Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use
Cons: Wireless no good
I would recommend this to a friend!

One "Cool" piece of equipment!

We had "Dish" network for many years but just didn't find ourselves using it as much the last year or so. We subscribed to Netflix and through one of their ads we saw this Roku devise. After reading about it online we decided to take a chance. Well, it didn't take long to cxl our "Dish" and we're finding about as much entertainment value out of our Roku. It is really easy to set up (and I'm not tech savy at all) and has pretty good range. You just have to remember to not have it hidden behind anything or stack anything on top of it in order to get a good signal from your computer (wi-fi). They are gradually adding new catagories of entertainment and even though we will probably not use anywhere near as much as is available it is all we need. Great value for the money!
Pros: Easy to set up, Compact, Great value, Easy to use, Built in Wi-Fi, Video selection, High quality picture, Reliability
Cons: Need fast internet service

Right now I'm using it instead of DVR selections from my Comcast Box. I may drop HBO. I'm very pleased that there is absolutely no buffering of the picture! It loads a little slow, though.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, Great value, Good HD picture, High quality picture
Cons: Difficult to set up, Deleting selections, Inconsistent performance

Disappointed

I have been a huge fan of Netflix for the last two years, and finally decided to purchase a Roku. I hooked it up on Christmas day, and I could not continue past the basic setup. After several hours with online and telephone tech support, I still did not have any success. I figured out on my own that it kept dropping the wifi connection. I moved my wireless router to the nearest internet connection in my kitchen, but I had to purchase a 50 foot ethernet cable to directly connect the Roku to my router. The picture quality is pretty good when watching Netflix movies, but I would not have purchased the Roku if I had know the wireless feature did not work. I would not recommend this product to friends that do not have their internet outlet close to their TV.
Pros: Easy to use, Compact
Cons: Inconsistent performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

other than the cons/suggestions I have (from the perspective of a technical user), this device more than met its need to allow my mom easy netflix access, so it was still a win in that regard I would definitely recommend to anyone still using analog televisions or to casual users in general
Pros: Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, Easy to use, Reliability
Cons: Advertisements, No way to power off, Quality of user interface
