Not really worth it, but it could be.

I bought this product because the old version was capable of mounting nfs shares with little effort. This one is much more closed off and does not allow access to a shell in order to modify the init scripts. I'd be happy with a GUI way to do this, but that doesn't exist. I'd be ok with DLNA, but that's not an option either. So I set this up at my girlfriend's house and I'll order something else. Probably a BluRay player with Netflix and DLNA unless I can find something that will do Netflix and NFS. There's no closed captioning, so we can watch movies, but not with her mom, who needs the captions. I read about how hard it is to make that work, but it's pretty easy on my popcorn hour to tell it to use an srt file, seems they could do something similar since it's a standard et al.
Pros: Compact
Cons: No closed captioning, No home streaming, Want more video choices
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We really enjoy our Roku. Although the manual method for searching movie titles is a bit clumsy, the product is well designed with memory and will quickly bring up similar titles which you have viewed recently. Helpful if you like to watch series, like "Parks & Recreation", or "Mystery Science Theater 3000". Usually after just entering a few letters, the Roku will pop up titles for you to scroll though and select.
Pros: High quality picture, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, Great value, Reliability, Easy to set up, Easy to use
Cons: Clumsy manual title searc

Nice, but....

I am disaappointed in Hulu Plus on the Roku. I assumed that all of the content available on free Hulu would be available on Hulu Plus. Not true. I entered my credit card info and sat down to watch the latest epoisode of "Fringe" only to find that it was not available on Hulu Plus. I do not think I will keep Hulu Plus after my free month.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Reliability, High quality picture, Great value

Great little black box, I cancelled all my Premium Channels from my Sattelite Service, I can get all those movies that those channels were showing for alot less money, I mean ALOT LESS MONEY and I can watch them when I want to not when they schedule them. Also I can order new releases for less money too! Even get great music for free, makes my house cleaning much more pleasant! And so much more that you can setup choices are yours!

Roku helped us cut cable!

We use our XD in conjunction with a Mac Mini in our living room. We find that the XD is much easier to use with Netflix, Hulu, MLB, and Amazon VOD than via the browser on the Mac--especially MLB which runs so smoothly on the XD. Also, it is much easier for our toddler to use when she wants to put on one of her shows.
Pros: Easy to set up, Video selection, Easy to use, Great value, Built in Wi-Fi
Cons: Need fast internet service

Love my Roku!

I love how easy it is to watch movies on Netflix or listen to music on Pandora through Roku! It looks really cute and it was easy to set up. I am enjoying being able to stream video to my TV as opposed to having to connect my computer to it. I have had mine for about a month and I have no complaints so far.

product doesn't work when moved to nearby room. WI FI appears to be line of sight only.
