I bought this to watch Netflix on the living room TV. The price was outstanding for the functionality. I also get tons of other stuff like Hulu and Amazon Video. When the Roku sleeps from non-use it instantly fires up when you press a button on the remote. It remembers the last thing you were watching on Netflix. Nice!
Pros: Easy to set up, Great value, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Compact, Reliability, Video selection, High quality picture

I wanted to get red of my $160 cable bill. Now I do it all with CHEAP Netflix and Hulu. I love it we are catching up on great series. Hereos, 30 Rock, Rescue me. Years and years of great shows. It saves were you stop for all your sets. I download(stream instantly) awesome movies. Never have to leave the house. Don't worry set up was a piece of cake. Keeps Wi Fi better than my laptop. Just conect to you TV and he talks you thru the EASY set up. It does it all.
Pros: Easy to set up, Reliability, Great value, Compact, Video selection, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use

Amazing device but still needs work

The reason I choose Roku was it seems further developed than many of the other set top devices but read some of the quirks. I started to use this product with free trial of Hulu. My Aunt just got me a 6 month of Netflix for Christmas. Sometimes on Hulu I get last frame of video freeze going from commercial back to program and once in a while lip sync issue when program returns. In order to correct that I have to stop, back out then resume program. Once in a while the box just reboots on its own even if your in the middle of watching something. Things that are great are functionality and simple remote if it weren't for these then I would probably just make a HTPC and use that (maybe one day I still will). I can't comment on Netflix yet since I just started the gift subscription. Certainly is some content to look at with Private channels and also use of PlayOn add-in in conjunction with a PC but performance not always 100%. As far of Channel content and Private content you won't find much in the way of international content unless your from India, there seems to be lots of from India. I am greek and I was hoping to get something like greekiptv (for which I already subscribe to on web) on the Roku box. Even though for Bottom line I say No to recommend I would caution purchase of Roku if you can deal with some quirks mention above I still think that Roku is further along than many of the other set top boxes. I think building a HTPC is the best option and one day I may just do that.
Pros: Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi, Great value, Compact, Userabiltyfunctionality, Easy to use
Cons: Freeze Frame, Inconsistent performance, Works better on Wired net, IntermitteLip Sync issues
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a great player, so great that I bought several as Christmas gifts. Shortly after buying it, I also bought an HD/Blue Ray package that contained built in wifi. I thought my Roku would be obsolete. Not so!!! Roku offers many more video choices than did the other internet device. I still want more content, but the Roku player has become my primary means of watching TV. No commercials!!! Once you get used to the fact that there are no awful commercials every 10 minutes, it's very very hard to go back to watching broadcasts television.
Pros: Easy to set up, Great value, Video selection, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, Easy to use, High quality picture
