Roku may have been 1st, but not the best

Roku was 1st, but face it, if Xbox can make a great interface for NetFlix, then Roku should have by now be wowing everyone with theirs......the whole box is missing a little something,,,,,,,disappointed.
Pros: Easy to set up, Compact, High quality picture, Built in Wi-Fi
Cons: Where's NHL, Want more video choices, HULU taking forever
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great if you want to listen to radio

Why have a 1080P media client that has no media streaming out of the box? Where on pile of internet TV channels do you find a 1080P stream? I tried a few 3rd party streaming apps/channels that both stunk. I sent it back and got a WD Live Plus and guess what, the first thing it found was my windows media stream from my PC with 1080P movies. Now that deserves to be called a media streamer.
Pros: Easy to use, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact, Easy to set up
Cons: No streamer, 3rd party streamers bad, No access to WM stream
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazingly Simple

Was working within 10 minutes. Picture is very good. This is a great value. Since cutting the cable cord we have been searching for a simple way to replace the cable DVR for time shifting favorite shows. Now that Hulu plus is available were covered. Netflix streaming works flawlessly on Roku.
Pros: Easy to set up, High quality picture, Easy to use, Great value, Built in Wi-Fi

Don't Wait--Watch it instantly!

I love having my Roku! I watch a lot of movies and, with this little unit, I don't have to wait for the mail. Although it only takes about a day to receive a DVD from Netflix, I love being able to select from a wide variety of movies to watch instanly, whenever the mood strikes me. It was very easy to set up, but because of a little error on my part, I did call Roku for a bit of instruction to complete the project. However, it was easy and quick to reach a knowledgeable technician who, with kindness and patience, helped me along my way. I highly recommend this product if you want to increase your movie entertainment. Being disabled and loving movies and documentaries as much as I do, it has added enormous enjoyment to my life. Thank you so much.
Pros: Compact, Video selection, Instant gratification, Great value, Easy to use

I was in the market to purchase a Netflix enabled device and was leaning heavily towards a PS3 or XBox 360. I found the Roku purely by accident and what a WONDERFUL accident it was! It is truly an amazing device. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new way to stream not only movies, but music and facebook photos directly to your TV. The Roku does it all!!

Need a better guide for setting up the wireless configuration. Describing steps needed/required for each type of encryption.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi, High quality picture, Video selection, Compact
Cons: Network Setup was tricky

Worked great for a while

Unit worked great initially, but then stopped connecting to home wireless network. Tried Live Chat for help, rep first had me try all the reset steps outlined in FAQ web page. Next, rep had me put in new DNS settings on wireless router. When I applied the settings completely lost Internet connection. Had to call ISP tech support in order to reestablish Internet service. Next called Roku phone support phone number. After trying and failing the same steps as before (less changing DNS settings)was then told I would have to call Netgear because he determined I had a Netgear Roku unit. Called Netgear customer support who after same try and fail procedures was told unit would have to be returned, to contact Roku for RMA number. Submitted RMA request, received confirmation of request, still waiting for Roku to provide RMA number. Live Chat rep seemed unable to provide any information beyond what they were reading off of their script. Seems to me she should have asked for unit serial number first to determine problems encountered with Netgear units, if any. Spent two hours on the phone before anyone determined unit was defective. Very disheartening customer service experience... but, to be fair unit worked great while it WAS working.
