Great product, when it works

When it works it's great, unfortunately that is not all of the time. When one buys a product one expects it to consistently work. I find that half the time I use it I have to re-check the connections and even then it may not work.
Pros: Compact
Cons: Want more video choices, Inconsistent performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Many promises, largely unrealized

The product has lots of potential, but promises of access to "Facebook" have still not been met. Service is courteous but useless with only excuses offered. Same problem with Sirius/XM where the "tversity" server won't work. Now "Netflix" is dropping off and often "experiencing internal server errors". What next? Wish I would have know, glad it was cheap.
Pros: High quality picture, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact
Cons: Inconsistent performance, Want more video choices
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Where are ALL the Instructions Needed?
on November 9, 2010

Installation instructions are grossly inadequate for someone not familiar with what may be needed to install, such as a 10 mbps speed for streaming through the HDMI cable. Countless hours were spent with ROKU service staff until it was determined that the red-white-yellow cables had to be used, and then consultation with Samsung staff about how to hook up to a TV without yellow connector slots to plug into. All of which would have been easy to solve with more complete instructions instead of a slick brocure that does not provide enough information.
Pros: Reliability, Easy to use, Compact
Cons: Need fast internet service, Difficult to set up
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought Roku primarily for Netflix & Hulu, but as of right now, Hulu is still "coming soon." It's been pretty great to be able to watch YouTube videos on my TV as well, but most often I'm using it for Netflix.
Pros: Reliability, High quality picture, Easy to set up, Easy to use, Video selection, Great value, Built in Wi-Fi, Compact
Cons: Still waiting for Hulu, Want more video choices
I would recommend this to a friend!

Really is as advertised; the picture quality is great. Set up was easy. Most surprising to me was that movies stream with no buffering. I had had trouble before streaming from netflix to my laptop which was closer to the router. The roku is farther away on a different floor in my house and the signal is strong.
Pros: Great value, High quality picture, Easy to use, Compact, Reliability, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to set up
Cons: Want more video choices, Would like you tube
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does (almost) everything

The product works well with Netflix, Pandora, and the other channels being added every day. Can't wait for the Hulu channel to be made available. I'm disappointed that DLNA is not supported yet, and the rumor that when it comes, it won't be fully supported. I'm also disappointed in the decision to remove the PlayOn channel.
Pros: Compact, Easy to use, Built in Wi-Fi, Downloadable content, Easy to set up
Cons: Inconsistent performance, Video loading fails, No DLNA, No onoff switch
