Slow and feels like 2002 technology

I could not believe that you could not just hit rewind and find yourself watching something from earlier in the show. It has to completely re download the show which takes 30 to 45 seconds and we have a fast modem. The technology feels very old for something cutting edge.
Pros: Built in Wi-Fi
Cons: Inconsistent performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thought the set-up would be really quick and easy as touted. Then found out I had to buy a router and ethernet cable DESPITE your company assuring that "ALL YOU NEED"-is; 1. Television 2. Computer 3. High-Speed Internet Will admit that once setup was complete my wife and I can't live without it. Great product overall
Pros: High quality picture, Great value, Easy to use, Video selection, Reliability, Compact
Cons: Difficult to set up, Want more video choices

Devolpment needs to be more open.

I like the product in general. It works all the time but I don't like port 8080 being open on it. Iptables blocking development ports would be nice. Also the junk arp traffic it generates is a clog on my network.
Pros: Reliability
Cons: Gets hot, Want more video choices, No play list on chanels, Needs marketing, Faster development

This is the product of the year for me. I need my husband to start the movies for me on netflix on his computer, and the movie would sometimes pause on the computer. Not so with my Roku. I can do everything myself and the movies don't pause. And they look terrific on my HD TV.

Will try traveling with it over Holidays. We had not really streamed video but over the year we've had Netflix we've averaged 2 DVDs per week - local cable is not very good and we have no premium channels. Only used with NETFLIX - can't get enough time to watch all we want. Using with 50" flat screen - images as good as our HD TV cable shows. Would be nice to have subtitle (at 57, we can't always hear or understand) and better rewind capabilities.

great except tilted screen

The Roku works great on my older Samsung CRT TV. However, the image frame is slightly tilted, maybe 3%. This does not happen with any other inputs (cable TV, DVD, VCR)and I only have one TV to test on. It results in a just noticeable tilt, and a sliver of black along the edge of the screen. Tilting the Roku does not seem to correct the problem:-) Otherwise I am very impressed with this little box.

Cons: No onoff switch
