I love the Roku so much I own two of them. I could no longer afford cable on a single income and went 1 year without much to watch. After getting the Roku I can't say enough good things about it and I use it with Netflix. The two together means I won't go back to cable and that's a great thing!! And the live tech support on line when I had problems with the second one solved all problems. I can't recomend Roku enough!!
Pros: Easy to set up, Easy to use, Compact, High quality picture, Great value, Video selection
Cons: Inconsistent performance
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cancelled my cable tv movie channels. Roku has been a great replacement. Just started using Pandora when I can't watch (working online). Roku has given me the opportunity to watch many foreign movies that I would never have seem. It has broadened my knowledge of cultures and customs. Thank you.
Pros: Compact, High quality picture, Easy to set up, Easy to use, Great value, Reliability, Built in Wi-Fi
Cons: Want more video choices
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love my ROKU. My husband and I initially purchased our ROKU to save the high cost of cable TV. Now we don't know how we would live without it. We have thousands of titles available for viewing and more added daily. We tell everyone we know about ROKU and have invited people in for a demonstration. We have several converts who are excited about saving the cost of Cable TV.
Pros: Easy to set up, Great value, Video selection, Reliability, Money saver, Compact, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, High quality picture

Money Well Spent

I was excited to receive my Roku within two days of ordering online, but disappointed when I couldn't get it set up because it wouldn't connect to the internet. However, with step by step help through the Roku live chat on their support page, I was soon up and running. The technicians helped me iron out a problem with my wireless router that I would have had no idea how to fix on my own. The online live chat was seamless...no waiting while the unseen person waited on several people at once. I'm hoping that other services (such as HBOgo) will make their content available through the Roku in the future.
Pros: Great value, High quality picture, Easy to set up, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Compact
Cons: Want more video choices
I would recommend this to a friend!

Misleading content

I received today both an AppleTV and a Roku player (I'm excited about Hulu). I'm seeking desperately to replace my cable TV... and the combination of these two boxes gets us close. But Roku is being misleading (I'm not saying purposely) when they say "full shows of 60 minutes" and other content. The truth is - much of the content in the channels like the Newscaster are audio only. I'm sorry, but a "full show" is not audio only. Seeing 60 Minutes is useless - I'm hear to watch television. Otherwise I would have bought a radio. Similarly, Hardball on MSNBC is also audio only. And the quality of the video channels is very poor. It seems like Roku is just grabbing content from podcasts over RSS - not forming true partnerships with the content providers. Roku should be more upfront about their channels. They are not all they're cracked up to be.
Pros: Reliability, Easy to use, Easy to set up
Cons: Misleading content, Want more video choices
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Roku couldn't be any easier to set up. 1. Unpack 2. Plug in power / HDMI 3. Follow on screen instructions That's it….literally. Its beyond me how people are having trouble with that. Even more so that they are upset it doesn't come with an instruction manual. It scares me that these people are allowed to drive vehicles. Netflix / Amazon is already built in, Hulu + is on the way. Not sure how many video channels you would need. But why would you buy the Roku knowing whats available, and then list lack of video channels as a con? Its all listed on the website. Do some research before you buy, its called being a competent consumer. Also, how is "needs fast internet" a con? You're streaming video, 720p / 1080p in some cases. How is your slow internet a con of the product? The bare minimum sustained internet speed for various video quality is listed on the website. Blame your 3Mb ISDN connection. Again, a little research. Most of the connections issues I've been reading about are mostly due to the users incorrect network setup, router & modem config or an incompatible security setting. AGAIN, all compatible network hardware and security settings are available in the FAQ section. How people spent "2 ½ hours with tech support" makes me weep for the human race. This player is dead simple to set up, runs quiet and cool. My internet is a 20Mb connection running through a Linksys WRT54G2 router (about 30 feet from the Roku). 1080p runs without a hitch. Get the XD model. The USB port on XDS is too locked down to be useful. Unless you really need the optical out and dual band, the XD is the smart buy. beat it
Pros: Compact, Video selection, Easy to set up, High quality picture, Great value, Built in Wi-Fi, Reliability

Dangerously close to being obsolete

With every possible electronic device including Netflix support, Roku really doesn't have much to differentiate itself from the competition. The price is slightly high, there isn't enough content, there's no DLNA support, and the wifi is flaky using a business-class WAP. Unless software upgrades, DLNA, and other content providers are setup quick (Hulu Plus is a good start) - this box will end up being obsolete within the next year.
Pros: Compact, Easy to set up
Cons: Inconsistent performance, Want more video choices, Spotty wifi support
