I previously owned a Cuisinart. It served me well but began leaking. I like my coffee very hot so again chose the Extreme Brew with adjustable carafe temperature. After about 2 months the plate no longer seemed hot enough and I had to heat each cup briefly in the microwave. With no hassle Cuisinart quickly shipped a replacement. I have been using this for several weeks and heating plate is fine. Hopefully it doesn't fail in this unit.

This is my third Cuisinart coffeemaker. I just wanted to replace the 14 cup maker with something smaller we I rarely make anything larger than 4 cups. It's advertised as very quick brew but that's only if you set it on Regular. I prefer Bold so it takes a bit longer. And if I use 1-4 cups it takes really really long. However the coffee tastes good and I only like strong coffee. I also like the clear water reservoir feature. The chime that tells you the coffee is ready is not too loud (the one on the 14 cup was excruciatingly loud and had to be turned off). But on this coffeemaker you cannot adjust it louder, softer or off entirely. It's just there. And when it goes off the coffee is actually still brewing. All in all, I would buy this again if needed. I keep going back to Cuisinart for coffeemakers because they just have good features and brew good coffee (of course all good coffee is dependent upon grind and amount of water used...finer grind stronger coffee...). The filters fit perfectly in this newly designed removable filter (I do not use the gold filter.) Four stars only because you cannot adjust the "coffee is ready" chime.

Love my Cuisinart coffee maker. This is the second one I’ve bought. The last one I had for more than 8 years. This model is simple to use, easy to program and very reliable.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I roast coffee, and I want it to taste great when I brew it. I had an extreme brew that lasted many years. When it finally died, I thought I’d splurge on a fancy De’Longi that was certified by some specialty coffee board. It was slow and fussy, and the coffee was simply not as good. After my patience ran out, I went out and bought another Extreme Brew, and I’m very glad I did! It brews fast, which is nice and all, but what I appreciate most is that it brings out the best aromas without highlighting bitter and acid.
