I have had the un55d8000 for about a month now, and still am blown away by the picture quality. The level of depth in the 2D picture is phenomenal, the black levels are pretty deep, and the colors are beautiful. the brightness levels are really good and I have no issues viewing even in a bright room in the middle of the day.
The 240hz refresh rate is great as well. I have not notice any motion blur during fast action sequences in movies or while watching sporting events.
I bought the TV for the 2D quality, but the 3D is a fun extra. There is not enough content to really make 3D more than just a novelty, but what native 3D content you can watch is displayed fantastically. I have noticed very little crosstalk, much less than I have seen anywhere else including IMAX. The 2D to 3D conversion also works really well, and adds a nice level of depth to non-3D content.
The un55d8000 uses Bluetooth 3D glasses, where as most manufacturers have moved to a UV line of site style of glasses. While this allows other manufacturers to have a standard of glasses that are interchangeable, it also limits you to line of sight and distance to the transmitter. You also may have resync times when entering and leaving the line of sight. I prefer Samsung's method, and as stated, the 3D quality is fantastic.
There are plenty of inputs on the TV. The only problem I have is I could really have used a second component input, as I have an older DVD home theater system that does not have an HDMI output, and a Wii that I want to connect to the TV.
The Samsung apps are good. Having the full qwerty keyboard on one side of the remote is a big plus. Using the Netflix app was easy, and streaming quality is pretty good. The only downside right now is not having an app for the Amazon streaming service. I am not quite sure as to why as older models of Samsung TV's had this app.
Picture quality is amazing. The 960 refresh rate has literally no blurring during fast motion videos. The edge to edge picture frame is better than anything that I have seen in any other model
i love the very thin bezel, the whole TV is screen vs the others who have 2-3 inches bezels around the screen. the Picture is awesome and realistic.
Pros: Realistic color, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you are looking to buy a good TV that will last and give you the best quility, Samsung 55D8000. The picture quility is great and the many funtionalities the comes with it will make you never leave your lazy boy.
I own two other Samsung HDTVs, but this is my first 3D TV. The picture is amazing and the sound is MUCH better than I was expecting without a Home Theater System. I am awaiting my HTD6370W =) Until then the built in sound is completely fine. I haven't had a chance to get heavy into the apps, but I really like the Pandora and Netflix apps. I like the keyboard on the back...nice touch. All in All I am VERY pleased with my purchase! I got this unit from Amazon at a VERY good price...
