I've had this led tv for about 2 weeks and my initial review is very good for this 8000 series tv. I am still in awe at the picture quality everytime I turn it on, especially when watching a blu-ray movie. I cannot believe how good even childrens cartoon like movies look. Setup went without a hitch, everything went the way it was supposed to. The only downside thing I can say is the querty remote is difficult to use and the browser wont play many videos I've tried to open. I have read other people asking for a wireless mouse and full size keyboard that will work with this tv and I have to agree- are you listening Samsung? I and probably a lot of other people would buy one in a heartbeat if it became available. Overall a wonderful tv for viewing media, but for browsing the web, just hook up your laptop to the hdmi port and use a wireless mouse and keyboard with your laptop. Great job Samsung
I spent nearly 3 years on the fence about the value of HD, watched as 3D emerged, and read countless reviews, from professionals and consumers alike. This TV has changed the way I watch TV and has captivated my family. It is clear, vibrant, and I think the 3D is just incredible. I came from a 32" CRT, so my review may have a lot to do with that. I disagree with the reviews that "inconsistent color and blooming, ruin this overpriced TV". Though there is some blooming with standard def shows, if you take some time to learn how to calibrate the TV you can overcome this. Check the web for what others have done and/or recommend, you won't regret it. Now for some nitty gritty, Samsungs config of the TV features are a bit of a mystery to me. The TV wants to default it's video source and features to plain television signals, using either an antenna("rabbit ears") or direct cable in type connections. Don't most folks use a cablebox? You can certainly get past this, but I would think a highend TV would be geared toward "highend signals". The other item which goes along with the above is PIP, there is no way to change what two sources you want to use PIP with, so you get PIP with antenna sources only. Other than that though, I love my TV, that's all there is too it! If a good deal like I found that included the 3D Blu-Ray player and extra glasses with it finds you, buy! You won't regret it!
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, w/ hdmi - ultra simple setup, great addition as an extra center channel
Cons: pip
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought the UN55D8000 on December 17th 2011. I wanted to buy a big screen TV for almost a year. 2 years ago I had an UN40D6400 and it was totally awesome, I love the fact that they are DivX certified and they play pretty much any video format right from the USB port. So, now I wanted to buy another Samsung, no other brand, I waited and waited to find the best price for a big screen TV. And I finally got this UN55D8000 brand new for a great deal. So, I bought it and I must say it exceeded my expectations. I am a techy guy and I love the fact that I can send the videos right from the PC to the TV, no conversion required, no USB, no DVD burning, not even an HDMI cable needed.
Don't get me wrong, the TV comes with all these functions: 4x HDMI ports 3 USB ports Wi-Fi (embedded, not an USB adapter) RCA connections Optical audio output
Practically everything I needed and wanted and imagined to have in a TV
What blew me out was the fact that it converts any 2D signal into a 3D signal, so you can actually enjoy watching football games in 3D.
It comes with Netflix, YouTube, Skype, and you can download more free apps for the TV, even download games for the TV. And it also has Google Talk, Tweeter and Facebook.
It is ultra-thin, seriously, is not even 1" thick.
And if it is not enough, well, there is a great App for the iPhone with which you can use your iPhone as a remote control, and also as a Qwerty Keyboard.
So practically I do not need to buy the keyboard. I seriously have everything I have wanted, dreamed and MORE!
Thanks Samsung for such a great TV. And thanks to the Tijuana, Mexico people who make ALL SAMSUNG TV's
Viva Tijuana!!!!!! And Viva Samsung!!!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, big big big!!!, 3d, converts 2d into 3d
