This cooktop has the best.features

I was looking for a cooktop to accommodate my griddle, as well as my large soup pot. This one hit the mark. It is sleek and virtually disappears on my Silestone counter. Aside from being easy to clean and having the controls out of the way, it performs like no other cook top I've owned. I couldn't be happier. Their is only one drawback: black always shows the dust.

Looks great in my kitchen with the granite.Originally I had a JennAire with down draft under the oven top. Replaced with the Whirlpool without a downdraft, so now have more cabinet space for pots and pans. Only had 3 weeks, so don't know how it will work long run, but works great right now.

As an electric cooktop it works very well. The heat control is more even than previous models, and the simmer feature gives the cook more flexibility. No performance concerns.The model we purchased had a high gloss black finish. It looks beautiful when completely clean. Unfortunately, in a kitchen where things are actually being cooked, it is never completely clean. Small water spots leave a visible white residue, and anything in the air (and there is always something in a kitchen) that settles on the surface is visible. If the unit is ever in direct sunlight the situation looks worse. Keep it clean, wipe it down, and then dry it completely when you are done. Seriously, I have to wonder if the designers ever took this home and actually used it in a real kitchen. The finish and/or color need to be changed.This unit was purchased to replace an older Whirlpool cooktop of the same size. This unit is just slightly wider than the old one, and the cabinet had to be modified to get things to fit. The big problem seemed to be that this one had big head sheet metal screws on the side that the older did not have; just enough to cause a problem. If your current opening is s tight fit, be prepared to widen it some.Feature suggestion: an edging option is available for these models, but it is stainless steel and only covers the front and back edges. Looks like it was designed for appearance rather than functionality. Protective edging is needed on all edges, because there is always a risk of a pot or pan hitting the edge either from above or from the side. A better option would be to design a thin silicone edging that would wrap around the edges to protect them from accidental contact. Look at your cell phone covers for ideas. These are not expensive to make and with a little work could be made more attractive.

Great cooktop!

Absolutely love this cooktop! Would never go back to the coil type cooktop. Everyday cleaning is a breeze and occasional cleaning with Affresh Cooktop Cleaner and special razor blade is no problem. The AccuSimmer feature is quite useful.
