Not as I expected

As an engineering consultant, I purchased this printer because of its 11x17 capabilities. For the price it has no match out there. However, I am not pleased with the quality of the prints, scans and copies. maybe I am used to laser machines, I don't know. The quality of the scans is so poor and i wonder if it is because I am still using the inks that come with the machine. I will used up the inks and purchase the XXL one to see if the quality will improve, otherwise I will return it and raise money to buy a better machine for good.

It's OK. I don't like the fact that when you make a copy of a document, the copy doesn't come out in the right order, you have to sort it the document manually in have page 1 on top. Otherwisae you have the end page on top.

Biggest waste of money ever

Wasted a ream of paper on jams and only printed 4 pages. Cannot set up to print on ledger paper. Press tray 2 and ledger paper all day, all it does is beep at you.
Expensive boat anchor. If I could give negative stars I would.

Color copies poor (look faded)
Bypass feed in back difficult to reach and cannot feed single checks
Extremely noisy
Has difficulty getting it to function with my own professional versions of the same software included with the J6710DW. Your SE versions caused issues requiring me to contact the software manufacturer.

Disappointed

Many options and for the most part it does exactly what I need. However, the print quality is less than stellar. I need to choose best quality to even see what is printed. If I elect to save ink, well I do just that, but cannot see anything on the paper. Wireless works great as does scanner and ADF. Printing envelopes is a no go...don't even consider because you will just get frustrated and in the end it just doesn't work. Ink is much cheaper than HP or any other brand, so that is a plus. No need for the phone line fax, but internet fax works great as well. So, in a nutshell it does what I need, but I am still disappointed for the money spent.

Not Up to Brother Standards

I have a HL-5250DN which has been a work horse with no issues on my network. I can't say as much for the MFC-J6710DW. I have had many partial printouts and many blank sheets. I called support during which they put me on hold and I then wasn't called back even though they had my phone number. I wrote an e-mail listing my issues. The response was I needed to call them on the phone. I have found out that if I start it up before bringing up my network and use their supplied FaceFilter Studio which only prints three formats, I can get it to print consistently. However this leaves a person with all types of printing issues. The problems appear to be software/firmware/driver issues not hardware. I can not speak to how this printer would perform attached directly to a PC as that is not my need.

Meets most of my needs

Reasonable size unit to print 11x17 compared to my previous unit that printed only 8.5x11. Wish I knew if it can scan multiple pages into a single PDF file. Menu is easy to follow. Prints clean in b&w and in color. Have experienced several paper jambs since taking it out of the box.

Best printer ever

I love that i don't need to constantly replace ink cartridges! Their high yield ink is high yield. The software is not intrusive and easy to install. It also holds alot of paper, you don't have to constantly refill the paper. Two sided printing is a breeze! Very good directions included. The only issue I have with this printer is scanning. The scanner leaves a 1/8" blank edge on all sides. But I haven't checked to see if there is a setting to change this. So it may not be an issue.
