What a machine

This is our second Brother all in one printer. We had the first one for about 5 years. For the money you can't go wrong. The printing is crisp and clean. I love that it does double side printing automatically!, I do not have to reload the paper!
I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a new all in one printer. The only thing that would make it better would be if it was a color laser for the price.

Solid but missing some advanced features

I purchased this printer based on the salesperson's recommendation. It's a good, solid, dependable machine with flexibility for larger paper sizes. It lacks some advanced features however that would be helpful such as dual-sided faxing or scanning.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great 11 x 17 Scanner

I bought this unit for its ability to scan and print 11" x 17." In most respects it does this very well. I would prefer that the scanning software would show each page view as it is scanned, instead of waiting until all sheets are scanned before showing the scanned pages. You have to hope that each page scanned correctly, 'cause you won't know until you finish.
Also, I use this mostly to print 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" paper (for music), and I'm apparently stuck using the sheet feeder, as the larger feed tray won't feed this non-standard size, even though the paper fits just fine. It would be so much easier to have the printer feed automatically.
The above points made, I am largely pleased. For the cost, the unit is an excellent value, especially with the 11 x 17 scan bed. Since I am the only person using this printer, the somewhat flimsy feel doesn't bother me too much.
As others have mentioned, it would be nice if the sheet feeder at the back would allow more than one sheet. But, for the price, I don't think you can object too vigorously.

Solid Performer

I replaced another brand printer with the MFC-J6710DW and couldn't be happier. It came right up on the in-house wireless, took just a few minutes to get all of the computers around the house to be able to use it and it just works. I was almost suspicious because it worked so easily, something HAS to be wrong, but it isn't. Keeps on working just fine without dimming the lights like my last laser did!
I would recommend this to a friend!

11x17 scanner and print is a big improvement over my previous Brother MFC-8860. Print quality is excellent.
However, bypass paper feed only takes single sheets and is hard to load.

printer had "paper jam" message right from the box

this printer still does not work and I have spend 3 hours on the phone with Brother "experts"
stay away from this monster. It will eat your liver alive .

A Great Product So Far

I've had the same Brother mono laser printer for day-to-day business printing for several years but for some reason have always had HP all-in-ones for scan, fax, copies, etc. After the last HP died a premature death to to a miniscule plastic part failure, as had the others before it, I woke up and smelled the coffee. If this machine performs as well as the laser for as many years, I'll be happy. So far it has met all my expectations, and exceeds any HP I've owned in many areas.
I would recommend this to a friend!
