Love Brother Printers!!!!!

This was my 2nd Brother printer. My first was MFC-240. I loved it. Not only the fact that the ink cartridges are seperate, so you only replace the color that you need to, it is overall a great printer. Even though I replaced my old brother printer, I still kept it, it was still in excellent working condition. I upgraded to this one due to being able to print on up to 11' x 17' paper and also 2-sided printing. I also love that you have 2 paper trays and dont have to change paper of you want to change size. Love IT!!!!!

Great machine, terrible software

The printer and scanner work great, haven't used the fax yet. The software is terrible when trying to use Wi-Fi. Had to load and remove and load several times. Always came up with "invalid agrument" when loading program. Tried downloading from Brother's website, takes about 1/2 hour then after waiting all that time the download disappears. Finally got it to work when I manually configured the ports. The scanner is great but only works when I use a USB cable, kind of defeats the wireless concept. Also, when program was installing it automaticaly deleted my Adobe converter and replaced it with Paper Port. If I wanted my converter deleted I would have done it myself

Versatile machine

An important feature for our small office is the ability to scan and copy ledger size material in color. The J6710DW does a good job of that and most other functions. Copy quality is good, not great. One drawback is that it does not print envelopes very well. Support offers some work-arounds, but not a fix. Would recommend to a friend with caveat regarding the problem with printing envelopes.

Some improvement needed

Copying existing color documents came out with weak colors not nearly as bright as the original. When using the manual feed in the back, it takes quite a long time before you can reuse it. The machine goes through a strange recycle process before a second envelope can be inserted. It was so far impossible to find how to turn off sent fax receipts - - - should be simpler and part of the fax setup menu. It's also been difficult to find the "print last page first" and "collate" commands. However, it has functioned perfectly without jams.

The MFC-6710DW printer is exactly what we were hoping it to be. It set up easily with our in-home wireless network and we are very pleased with its performance. Highly recommended to all who are looking to replace other manufacture's equipment.

Very Nice Printer

I've been using it for a week now, and I love it. I've used it for just about everything except FAX, including scanning and printing 11x17. Easy to set up. Easy and intuitive to use. Fast. Good control center software, good onboard display and controls. I have experience with a LOT of printers, ever since my first computer in 1979, and so far this is one of the best. Time will tell, though.
The bottom line for me is that I can't believe I got such a capable printer for so little money.
The weaknesses so far are minor: Poor or nonexistent instructions for the software (but it was fairly intuitive for me, a highly experienced user of new printers and scanners). Flimsy paper output tray (but that seems to be the norm these days). Rather long wait for first page when printing in reverse order (almost 2 minutes when doing a 12-page Word document). And the biggest one... colors, though fairly true-to-life, are generally not very intense. The only time I've gotten intense colors is when copying a photo onto glossy photo paper.

Does it all at a nice price

I purchased the MFC-J6710DW with some scepticism. But the price was nice and I was fed up with All-in-One machines from a well known competitor. My wife does semi professional art and graphic work and do health care reaserch so we are constanatly using different formats, papers and colors. This machine handles it all and then some. Very dependable and much cheaper to use than other machines.

Best Printer Ever
on July 2, 2012

I am the Owner of a small engineering business and I have owned a dozen or so fax machines, scanners, printers over the past two decades. This is by far the best machine I have ever owned. For me, it truly is an all-in-one, as it has eliminated one machine in my office. I print most designs on 11" x 17" and also needed a printer/scanner/fax for 8.5" x 11" - NOT ANY MORE!! I am a happy printer Owner!
