Disappointing Functionality, Style and Performance

I have been a happy owner of an older 10" Samsung-made Tablet for a long time (I can't list the name here due to review guidelines since it was sold by another company), but have desired an upgrade for awhile. One piece of functionality that I really wanted to have is a stylus. Samsung has had native pen implementations, based on very reliable technology (Again I can't mention the name in this review), for a long time which gave me great confidence in making this purchase without trying it out first.
Screen: Unfortunately, though the screen is bright and vibrant, it's not as good as my 3 year old Samsung tablet at resolving detail. Despite the fact that the Note 2014 has the same resolution as this older screen, I can see the individual pixels far more clearly on the Note, in particular the dark spaces between the pixels are very apparent. This was very disappointing to me since I'd only expected screen quality to get better over time. It felt like I was looking at a low resolution amoled screen.
Pen Response: I was very much looking forward to a good pen experience, but the response is very laggy and nowhere near as good as a computer-based pen drawing tablet. I tried quite a few drawing packages, but the poor response and accuracy was common to all apps.
Touchwiz continues to be overly colourful and in my opinion is significantly less usable than Android's standard interface. It makes the product look less polished.
The physical design is not something I'm usually concerned with, and I'd gladly compromise here if the functionality lived up to its promises. The metal ring around the display, and textured back with fake stitching, do not make this look like a high-end product.
I would recommend not purchasing this tablet if you are concerned with image quality and desire the ability to sketch artistically.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Not high def, Did not meet expectations, poor pen response, touchwize is unappealing, display is worse than older samsung screens
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great but not using it

I had an iPad mini retina. I have seen some surface pro products, too. Looking at several tablets, I choose this device. I talked to several friends including one who work at Samsung electronics and a computer science major before I buy this. Some suggested me just stick with iPad, but I just got this, assuming it would be productive enough for me.
One thing I would like to say before I start is that, if you are looking for a tablet with great productivity, go for Surface pro. Galaxy note does not have office. (Even iPad mini has it!) Besides, it is very frustrating to write a simple note on Galaxy note because it moves around with my palm( I will explain more detail about this below.)
If you need a tablet that has some productivity and entertainment, go for iPad. That's a lot lighter to carry, easier to get used to, more stable to use. Galaxy note lacks a lot of apps, very slow to open an app, and unstable even when I use its own app, s note.
The reason I chose this over iPad was that I needed a productive tablet, rather than a toy. I assumed it to work well when I try to take notes, which turned out to be not much likely.
I admit that it writes better than iPad. But it does not feel better to write since the pages move along with my palm as I mentioned above. Besides, the pen is some how not as exact as the pen with surface pro 2 or 3.
Also, it takes too long to run the s note app, not to mention that the app takes ages to flip to another page. So, when you are trying to take a note in your fast-paced lecture or meeting, I suggest you Surface pro, iPad, or even BIG pen with a scratch paper. Otherwise you will miss the class discussion or meeting to figure out how to use this expensive(but not productive) product.
Yes, there is a separate voice memo app(not in the s note app) but that does not sync with my note. (Notability app and One note also has this function but not Galaxy note.)
On top of everything, the battery is dead whenever you need it.
So, after trying to use it for note taking, it did not work. For entertaining, it is way heavy to carry with a hand and fails to feature things. Now, I tend to leave this device in my closet and start to pick up my Macbook air and a notebook.
I do not normally leave a review, but I really had to so that not only other prospective users but the developer or any employee who works at Samsung can see it. If you are considering this, just go for other tablet or your analogue notebook. If you are the person who work at Samsung, plz plz let the designer and engineers know this. Make office app work, improve your poorly-working s note app, and play Amazon Prime video.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, wacom pen
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, battery -hours to charge and always dead, unstable note app, too heavy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great tablet over the previous version, once you get comfortable with the functions and tricks of the tablet and S pen the more versatile the tablet becomes.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Durable, Realistic color, beautiful screen, excellent quality, magnificent functions, great versatility, 10x's the tablet of any ipad
Cons: heavy, buttons are in different format, battery life could be better, charging plug in the wrong place, needs app update for 2014 sooner, a bit on the expensive side, did i mention a bit heavy?
I would recommend this to a friend!

The galaxy note has all the features I was looking for in a tablet. I like that it's easy to take with me on the go rather than lugging around a bulky laptop. Overall a great product well worth the price!!
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, s-pen
I would recommend this to a friend!
