This brush has the same action if not a bit better. The big plus is the design improvements. Cleaner, stays clean, no areas for buildup of the crud you would see in the Essence etc. design.
Pros: easy to clean and more hygienic
Cons: replacement brushes still a little pricey

the charging base is very awkward and inconvenient on my counter. the cord causes the base to flip sideways when the unit is being used. having a detachable cord would be a great feature.

This brush (along with other sonicare brushes) are fantastic at keeping your teetch clean and healthy. I travel with mine and use it twice per day. It is a must have along with great flossing. Your teeth will feel like they have just neem cleaned by a pro!

I like the feature where you can polish your front teeth. The brush seems to fit my teeth very well which leads to an excellent cleaning.
