I love my new Sonicare! I am the classic "aggressive brusher" and this allows me to be gentle and effectively cleans. The timer helps me to focus on each area long enough. I feel like they were just polished each time I brush=).
Pros: easy to use, timer

This toothbrush gets your teeth far cleaner than a manual brush ever could. I couldn't imagine going back to a regular toothbrush.

Stainless Steel Output Shaft coming off when used.

I bought this Philips Sonicare in November 2011. I have been using one at two times a day. About a week ago the Stainless Steel Output Shaft (the metal part that is holding the headbrush) started to come off when in use. It has to be pushed back in the handle. Very inconvenient. I have decided to buy a new sonicare. it won't be a Philips.

Worst toothbrush ever!

I'm sorry to say this, but this is the worst toothbrush from Philips. I've bought the same toothbrush twice but I was disappointed on both the occasions. Let me tell you why.
The brush head sits on a little metallic thingy attached to the main body, right? That metallic thingy becomes loose in a month or so after the first use thus making the brush head make a lot of noise and lose the "sonic" action. In other words, the brush becomes useless.
First fix the bonding between the metallic thingy and the main body so it lasts for atleast 3 years of daily use. Then we'll talk.
Pros: looks great thinner
Cons: awful design, cheap construction, doesn't last long

Defective shaft

Unfortunately, I had to send the housing back twice within a year for replacement. Each time the shaft stem area would seem to come loose and create excessive noise and would not vibrate/oscillate very well under normal pressure. It is as though the shaft set/lock screw needs to be secure better such as with "Loctite" or similar product. I think a lot of customers are not aware that their toothbrush may be defective with loose of cleaning power and therefore have not complained. Just because you hear a hum, does not mean it is operating properly.
I hope the re-development team reads these comments.
Pros: charges well, better design brush head than earlier models, looks nice
Cons: shaft appears to come loose, excessive noise develops over time, lack cleaning power over time, can be slippery to hold, replacement head are expensive
