MY 2 IPADS AND IPHONE5 WORKED USING AIR PRINT.
MY 5 PC'S AND 1 IMAC CAN'T FIND PRINTER!
USING THE SUPPLIED CD ON PC#1, THE SLEEP MODE PREVENTED SETUP UNTIL THE PRINTER POWER WAS CYCLED, THEN SETUP COMPLETED AND PC#1 CAN PRINT.
OVERALL, WITH THE HELP OF EPSON ONLINE SUPPORT, ALL IS WELL!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Let me start by admitting that I am not the most "tech-savvy" person in the family. This is actually the first time I had to install a printer solo. The instructions were easy to follow and the new printer (and its software) was set up in no time! The option to connect wireless is great. One less cable to try to wrangle. The printer fits on our small desk nicely. Our old printer had a poorly placed display screen that was hard to read, but this new one's display screen is well-placed, lit, and easy to read (even for my middle-aged eyes!) No more standing up and squinting over it to try to use the printer, Yay! Like all new devices, it takes some time to get used to new icons and commands, but this printer was fairly easy. Anything I haven't been able to puzzle out, I've easily found in the online directions. Everyone always complains that Epson inks are expensive, but they're beautiful for photos and color documents. Even though this printer isn't specifically a "photo quality" printer, I've printed a few photos (on photo paper) to check it out and they were fine. I would definitely recommend this printer to friends.

Good Printer

This is the second Epson printer I have purchased in 6 months. I recently bought a Sure Color P600 printer for photographs but needed something for everyday printing. The XP-420 was perfect. It was easy to set up, takes up very little space, and prints quality documents. So far ink usage has been acceptable. If you get this printer with the intentions of printing pictures then you will use a lot of ink. That is why I purchased a specific photo printer to handle that work.

Prints great. Had a hard time downloading program, I think it was me. Haven't had to do photos yet, but if it's like the other Epson I had, the photos should be great.

Very disappointing

I can see why the great reviews come from people who have not used the printer for long. At first I thought it was great too. Until the first time I had to change cartridges. Then, I had to re-run and re-run the utilities again and again to get the printer to print right, using a bunch of the newly installed ink in the process. Alas, time to change cartridges again - I've been at it 45 minutes, rerunning utilities, and still haven't gotten a quality printed page yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great value

Easy to set up, although I initially had trouble understanding the screen. Once I got it the printer was quiet and fast, and turns on and off quickly. For low volume printing it's a great value.

Nice Printer Except......

Overall this printer is great. However, I find it ridiculous that you cannot print ANYTHING if one of the ink cartridges is out of ink. The Magenta was out, and I couldn't even print a document that only consisted of black font.
This is my only complaint, but it's enough that I won't be purchasing anything Epson again.
