Warranty Issue

I bought this TV when it was first available at my local store in Jan. I was the first to buy this model, and all the sales people came over for the store unboxing. The TV was very easy to setup, and the picture was great. I am using a Bose sound bar, as the TV speakers are a little weak as with most TV's. About three weeks ago I noticed a white glow on the left side of the screen. I called the service #, provided pictures as requested and no one got back to me. I followed up, and was told that the glow was within normal operation of the TV. I asked if Sony would like to send someone over, watch a show and then tell me the glow was normal. After much back and forth, a new TV was on they way. However, when the TV arrived today for exchange, it turned out to be factory reconditioned one. This must mean that I now have someones elses TV that had an issue. For now the TV seems to be operating well, and hopefully will continue too. If not, I hope Sony will stand by their product and provide me with an actual new one should the need arise. That said, I really like this TV and hope it all works out,

I love my TV

New for 2015, this is a step down from the XBR 850 model, has no 3d or triluminous display, but still the TV is awesome. It has a natural color feel and I compared it to the higher end models, and the colors are a bit more pastel looking, but that's what I liked about it, not a TV that's in your face color saturation. I first bought the Samsung Curved 65" and one of my gripes were their version of the triluminous display. It seemed too artificial. I didn't need 3D, don't need the fancy trackpad remote as this comes with the old school type standard but functional remote. All within my price range for a 4k TV of this size. I will upgrade definitely in a few years but for now this is a good bargain! If you're on the fence between a Samsung and this TV around this price range, i'd go with Sony. Right out of the box the image looked good and hooking my laptop on this tv looked much better than the Samsung. It instantly recognized the native resolution unlike the Samsung. Images are crisp and hardly notice any motion blur. And it comes in beautiful silver metal frame. I actually bought a curved soundbar which some may see as weird but the Samsung curved soundbar in silver looks really nice with this tv. There's a reason Sony released this TV for 2015, after the XBR 850. It satisfies a certain niche in the market for those who don't need all the bells and whistles such as 3D, which from other reviews don't look too good on the Sony 4K 850 model. Interface is straightforward, like the Playstations, and recognized my Sony blu-ray player instantly. Love love love this TV!!! Thank you Sony for making this TV. You always keep me coming back to your brand. I visit Japan frequently and this TV is very expensive over there. Glad I live in the states. And it still is an XBR series. Upscales everything to 4k and picture is beautiful and natural looking. Build quality is also much better than Samsung, which the Samsung I had to return it twice due to scratches and a ding that came straight out of the box. Poor quality Samsung.. you should do more QC checks. Sound on this TV is acceptable, but soundbar is highly recommended. Thanks again SONY!

Hi Chen808, We're so glad to hear that this TV meet your expectation. Thank you for choosing Sony!
Just got this TV 2 days ago, but so far am duly impressed with the picture quality and look of the set. Haven't even seen the 4K part, but can tell it's gonna be great. We didn't need any of the fancier features like 3D and Skype, cameras and such. This has just enough capability to impress us. We've always been an all sony household, had a 60 inch DLP HD that we just sold after about 8 years to upgrade to this 65inch. Can't say I really notice it being bigger than the old TV, suppose we'd have to go up to75 inch to see a measureable difference. Still have to figure out how to get Netflix and such but so far so good. Here in WI, a brutally cold weekend is predicted but not to worry we have our new TV to beat the winter blues and cabin fever. The one thing I have to do is figure out how not to have the lamps in the room reflect in the shiny screen. Wasn't sure I'd like the silver frame but I really do. Sound seems adequate but may hook it up to a sound bar or sound system, savoring one thing at a time on this new addition to our family room. Buy it, you won't be sorry you paid for Sony!

Hi Jaffo333, We're really glad to hear that you are already having a good time with your television! Thank you for choosing Sony!
I wasn't sure & was stuck for a while on Samsung. We decided not to go with them due to they would not furnish the maker of their screen components. I am very sissified with this Sony & did not get the Hanssle about where the components were made!
So far to date which means we have it for about 4 months, everything seems to be working fine. The picture clarity is perfect but you would need a sound bar with this tv if you want some volume. We just have not bought one yet. I'll give you updates down the road.

Hi Onehappybuddha, We're really glad to hear that you're having a good time with your TV! Thank you for choosing Sony!
Very happy with the tv, altho nothing is yet broadcast in 4K, so will have to wait to see if it's as good as we hope it will be.had one incident where a red light flashed and it kept shuting itself on and off after we had been gone 2 weeks. It self corrected but want to inquire what that was all about. I find the remote a little weirder than Samsung for getting netflix and such. Was surprised it wasn't a better remote considering the high end price tag! We are pretty loyal to Sony overall for the past 50 years, one exception so guess that speaks for itself.
