[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the grain mill about a month ago and have used it twice so far. I ground red winter wheat on the fine setting and the flour turned out great. It helped me make yummy homemade banana bread.

Easy solution for milling grain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was planing to buy a stand-alone grain mill for home use, but since we already have a KitchenAid stand mixer, the All Metal Grain Mill attachment was an efficient and cost-effective option. My interest is in breadmaking and I plan to mill a variety of hard grains for that purpose. My first attempt was with Kamut(r) wheat berries, which are quite hard, and the mill was able to turn them into a reasonably fine flour easily. Baking with the result was effective and successful. The only aspect of the mill that I'm not fond of is that long-term storage requires adding a light coating of mineral oil to protect the grinding surfaces from oxidizing - but it's not a big deal, just routine maintenance. It is easy to disassemble the entire unit for thorough cleaning, inspection, and parts replacement if necessary. Note: This unit will not mill grains to micro-fine flour, so be aware that the flour produced by the unit will be more granulated than typical store-bought flours. For typical breadmaking applications, it shouldn't be an issue.

Piece of garbage!

First when it was working, after about an hour, I had about 1 ½ c of wheat ground to flour. Then suddenly, the thing flew off the mixer, broke my bowl and grain, flour and glass went all over the kitchen. I would not give it 1 star; however, there is no star for minus. All I can say is I had better get a full refund. I guess I am just out the price of my mixer bowl, which is way over priced.

Ok for coarse grinding

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good enough for getting gritty grains, not fine such as required for fine flour required for breads and cakes. It does get finer if your rerun the coarse floor.

I don't really know if it is this grain mill or the Tilt-up mixer that is the problem. However, I would strongly suggest that you NOT buy this attachment for this mixer. Either the mixer is not powerful enough to perform the duty or the design of the mill is not exact. In either case, I am only able to mill two cups of grain and then let the mixer rest for at least 20 minutes because the mixer and the mill have over heated to the point that the mill is hot to the touch and the mixer is far more warmer than it should be. I takes me about an hour to mill 4 cups of grain, safely. KitchenAid states that you can mill 10 cups of grain safely. Not true. Because of this problem, I am sure the longevity of the motor of the mixer is greatly affected. I will be returning the mill I have only had a couple of months, for a refund. I will be purchasing an electric mill, since I make all my own bread from fresh milled flour. The KitchenAid I once knew and loved doesn't exist anymore.

Good grinder, but I have to run grain through twice to get the flour somewhat fine which is a pain.
