[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This vacuum has proved to be very effective for our carpets and bare floors. Particularly useful is the wand attachment for crevices in armchairs and the angle between baseboards and the floor. The soft brush for the hose is also very useful for a number of tasks, removing fluff from upholstery and dust from pictures etc. I have found it quite clumsy to use on stairs.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have several other Bissell products (steam cleaner, etc) but this is our first upright vacuum. Purchased through Bissells website and shipping was fast and free. We were very impressed with the power and could clearly see the amount of dust that our old vacuum didn't pick up. In fact the power might be too strong. The bristles starting taking the fibres from our carpet but I guess that's a good thing as it removed any loose fibres. The extensions are very useful as it easily reaches the corners of the ceilings. The unit is a bit heavy but overall, we're happy with our purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this Bissell for the main floor area rugs on my wood floors. I roll it over the wood as well and it picks up very well. It's light and easy to use. It has great suction and picks up the animal hair. It is not too loud and manoeuvres very well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

LEFT HANDERS BEWARE

This vacuum is very awkward to use for a left hander. I don't think I've ever used a product that I couldn't make work until now. Not only is the on/off switch on the wrong side, but the base tilt is in a hard to reach area. On future models, I would like to see it moved to a central location, making it easy to use for both left/right hand users. One last feature I do not care for is the hose. It only comes with one crevice tool, which does not give it the length it needs to perform simple tasks. This vacuum does have good suction and the swivel base is a plus but I have a hard time recommending it based on the above comments.

I am hard on my vacuums. I cannot believe how easy this vacuum maneuvers. I like that you can use the brushes or not. I wasn't sure I wanted a bag less but after vacuuming one room and having to empty it (yes it picked up that much in one of my rooms (embarrassing!)) I could not believe how easy it was to empty! I will never use a bag again. I also LOVE the lift off feature and I use the pet tool on the stairs! This was the whole reason I wanted the lift off! There is a clip for the cord which has always annoyed me on my old vacuum. It does not have a retractable cord but I have not had a vacuum with a retractable cord in a long time and I knew that when I bought it. I have no complaints! I love when a product makes you want to CLEAN your house! Cleaning the upstairs and the dog's area today! yikes!! I highly recommend it!

I volunteer to be a tester...

I just purchased my second PowerGlide Pet Vacuum for my camp. I was hoping that since I bought my first one Bissell had made some improvements. I have four large dogs and I vacuum every day. I volunteer to be a tester for Bissell because I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to put such a short hose on it. When I use the lift off and set it on the floor it falls over right away. The hose is so short you have to pull on it and that makes it very hard to use. Also, the belt needs to be improved. I have to take the whole brush out almost every day and place the belt back on the pulley. Another problem is the attachments. They don't all work together. I found that using parts from both vacuums makes my work easier. I like that the vacuum picks up hair but I'm not totally sure they did enough research with "real" people and how they use the vacuum in a normal setting. I purchased another one because I have bought so many extra belts, extensions and brushes that I thought I may as well use them.

Thanks for your review. When working with the upholstery hose we recommend moving the machine closer to your cleaning are to avoid tipping. Make sure to keep the brush and belt area clean from hair, this way this will prevent any stress on the belt. We will forward your comments for possible future changes.

This is a great vacuum cleaner with two features that I like the most. The removal of the canister which makes cleaning stairs and hard to reach areas easier and the ability to stop the brush when vacuuming the hardwood floor. The suction is powerful and should have no problem on the carpet. The only thing I wish that can be better is the weight. It's still a little heavy to lug around.
