I'm very pleased with the performance of this steam cleaner. I used the Bissell pet stain and odor soap/shampoo and was truly surprised at how well they worked together. The machine even got out stains that were several years old. I definitely recommend this product.

We are repainting our house. With not enough cash to get the new carpeting that I wanted, I chose to get this cleaner in the hopes it would work well enough for us to get another year or two out of the current carpets. Worked fantastic on our son's bedroom. But since it is not exceptionally dirty or worn, I was reluctant to write a review. However, we purchased a used car last week, and the chemical cleaner smell was very strong. We used the hand tools and only hot water in the tank to "rinse" the car out. Wow! This sucked up a bunch of suds from the flooring and mats, and the smell is much better. I used the hand held on the actual floors and interior, and the upright on the removable mats. Worked so well, I had to do the other car's mats as well. Fantastic! This has already paid for itself.

Have had this for about two years. Used a couple times to deep clean carpeting while doing minor home refurbishment, and didn't want to buy new carpeting. Is is easy to operate, and lightweight enough (without the tank) for me to take up and down stairs. The hose was only long enough to do half the staircase at one time, but was long enough to clean car upholstery. However, the water/solution spray on both the upright and accessories just stopped while I was cleaning. Troubleshooting did not help. Calling Bissell only led to, "Your warranty is expired. Take it to a service center at your own cost or buy a new one." I suppose that compared to the cost of professionally steam cleaning my entire house, I got my money's worth, but it's a shame that it doesn't last longer. Best advice is to treat this as temporary and save money for the next one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was somewhat unsure if the cleaner could handle the heavy traffic in my home. To my surprise it kept and surpassed all expectations.

This is the second Bissell carpet cleaner I have purchased, again I have problems with the sprayer not working after only using a few times. I will never purchase a Bissell cleaner again.

The Bissell steamer we had for over ten years stopped working when my husband was just starting to clean our carpet. So we rushed to a home improvement store to purchase a new one. We returned home, assembled system and started to clean the carpet. Everything was great until water change. The sprayer would not work. We did all the trouble shooting and discovered a broken belt. We are hopeful that it is only a belt however, the store is closed and my carpet is still dirty. I don't think we should have to purchase a new belt for a machine used less than an hour. I will write another review if we receive positive results, in a timely manner.

I bought my first Bissell in 1989. It was a very basic model that attached directly to a water supply with a siphon hose that drew the cleaning solution directly from the bottle. How well the machine worked was up to the user. The only moving part was the suction motor. It was a manual machine in every sense of the word. In 2001, I bought a second Bissell. The second machine was a Proheat Clearview. This machine was self-contained in that it had two on-board tanks, one for the cleaning solution and the other for water. Sometime early 2015, flow indicator showed the machine was becoming intermittent. Though some will say I got my money's worth out of the second machine, I beg to differ. It was only used about two hrs a year. That's not a lot of time. The difficulty of accessing the internal workings kept me from repairing this machine. I had already replaced the pump belt and tested all the internal tubing. I decided not to invest money in a pump motor because re-assembling the case proved to be nearly impossible. I would have kicked myself if replacing the pump didn't correct the problem. But it definitely saved some dollar$ over the past 14 yrs. Late Oct 2015, I bought a third Bissell. This time, I wanted a machine without the added complexities of a second tank and water heater. I stayed with Bissell because I knew what to expect. So far, it's working as anticipated...but time will speak to it's reliability. If I have a problem, I will post my experience.
