Classic - you can't go wrong!

I've had my 3100 for at least five years, maybe six. It wasn't my first Norelco rotary shaver as I got my first one over thirty years ago. This isn't the most expensive Norelco I have owned - in fact, it's the most inexpensive. In all honesty, I have to say it's my favorite.
I've gotten somewhat closer shaves from my very pricey 1250X, but seeing as how Norelco has discontinued the superb original blades for that model, it now cuts no better than my 3100. Well, actually the 3100 is a lot better.
There are plenty of positives for this shaver, and no real drawbacks. Top of the list (for me) is that the 3100 is not limited to cordless use only. If you somehow didn't notice the LED warning you to charge after your last use, and find yourself with a too low battery, just plug it in and keep shaving! This is a massive advantage if you are one who often find mornings to be a rush-rush affair ... like me.
The heads on this shaver are now better than what is being supplied for high-end Norelco shavers. I am not kidding, as I own a very expensive Norelco which stays at home (my 3100 is my "road machine," and travels with me - which is every other week). The replacement heads for my high-end Norelco pull nose hair and sideburns constantly. The shave is certainly no better than that of my 3100. I would argue that the 3100 is now better (although my expensive 1250X was a little better when new).
Clean up is a breeze with this shaver. The head assembly hinges open, allowing you to run even scalding hot water on the heads without burning your hand in the process. This is another advantage over the newer head-on-a-stick type Norelco shavers. Again, I own one of those and the 3100 is definitely easier to maintain.
Price has to be considered. One could purchase a lifetime supply of these 3100's for the price of one high-end Norelco. Do those shave better? Maybe a little ... but is it really worth the extra expense? Not in my book.
Long life is a factor. My 3100 is at least five years old, maybe six. Frankly, I can't remember. In any event, it's shown no sign of slowing down; no degradation of battery performance. I still get over ten days of shaving between charges. No complaint. My very expensive 1250X does no better.
If I found that Norelco was discontinuing this shaver, I would immediately order two ... which would probably last me for the rest of my life. Were mine to fail tomorrow, I would consider that I had more than got my money's worth from it and head out to get another. Further, when my expensive Norelco 1250X fails, I will replace it with this model and be happy to do so.
Pros: can be used with cord while charging., very easy to clean., inexpensive but not cheap., very very good shave. better than most., long life.
Cons: no travel case nor cap for head.

Cons: i remember when shavers came with a travel case.

If you haven't used an electric shaver in years, this is a great choice for you. This is my second purchase. My previous shaver stopped charging after 4 years of use. So I bought another one.
