I have been using a Norelco shaver for 15 years. The design of shaver heads from slots all over to 1/3 slots and 2/3 perforations lowered shaving efficiency. This caused me to purchase the cheaper model to obtain old style heads. This shaver had a longer charging cycle and less features than the top of the line model I had been purchasing. Next, the face-plate containing the three shaving heads was needlessly equipped with a hinge making removal for cleaning more difficult, Finally the number of cutting blades on each head was reduced further reducing shaving efficiency causing a longer cycle for each shave and the faster wear of the blades and heads causing more frequent replacement.
Cons: product is no longer worth the price

Great Shaver!

I received a free sample of this electric shaver to try out and review and overall I thought it is a great shaver. What I like the most is that the Philips Norelco Series 3000 Shaver 3100 holds a good charge, is fairly light weight, and is comfortable to hold and use. It has a rubber surface on part of it that allows for a good comfortable grip and fits your hand well. In addition, it is very easy to clean off the blades and clean out hair collection chamber after use. I also liked that the trimmer/edger feature on the back was easy to use and powerful enough for cleaning up my sideburns and neck when needed. Finally, the sound level of the shaver was lower than other electric shavers I`ve used.
The only thing that I feel the shaver could do a little better at is provide a closer shave when you just have stubble. I had to go over the same places multiple times to really get a close shave when compared to other electric shavers. The shaver did great though when my facial hair was a little longer.
With everything considered, this shaver has my vote and I would definitely recommend it to others!
Pros: very comfortable handle, lightweight, stylish
I've always used Norelco shavers and they've lasted a very long time. I prefer a direct line cord with no rechargeable battery. My previous one had a battery that finally would not take a charge anymore, making the whole shaver so much scrap. This one has a voltage adapter in the plug, which would be okay, but the line cord is not coiled (as in past shavers), thus not only being incompatible with past shavers but also a pain in the butt to unwind, rewind, and store. One might argue that I'm not appreciating the shaver because of the line cord, but I really do hate that line cord. I also wish the shaving heads detached from the shaver body for cleaning, as they did on past Norelco shavers. The attachment seems very flimsy and prone to breakage.

Easy to use and clean (rinse in tap water). Comfortable design to hold and operate. Fast, thorough, comfortable shave - even when I am sweaty or the bathroom is full of hot water steam. Charges quickly and empties, slowly. Service rep who registered my product by phone was excellent - very helpful and courteous.
My new Philips shaves much better than the 35-year old Norelco that it replaced. I also like the feel in y hand, the controls, the styling. The only complaint I have is with the power cord. My old power cord was one of those curly ones that brought AC power into the shaver. The new one is straight, so it often sticks out of the drawer and gets smashed when I put it away. I would pay more for a shaver with a better cord.
Cons: terrible power cord

Shaver is not waterproof

I've used this shaver for two years. I recently had problems where the battery would not charge. Finally, the razor would only work for one second before turning off. I presumed the problem was the battery. I took the shaver apart and discovered water inside of the razor around the circuit board and motor. The razor was advertised as being waterproof so I had cleaned it under the tap. The casing for the motor was corroded. I let the water evaporate from inside the razor and it works now. I believe the water was shorting out the wire contacts to the motor or the circuitry. I was pleased with the razor until I had problems because it is not waterproof.
