Finally A Monitor That Supports Close Work

I'm a novelist, and trying to catch annoying typos that inevitably creep in was daunting on my old 17" 1024 x 760 monitor. My new 27" HP HD monitor makes it so easy to see what's contained in a draft document. .Also, movies are crystal clear and run smoothly. Colors, an important aspect of dust cover design, are likewise crisp. This is the monitor I've wanted for over a decade.

Love this Monitor. Display is very clear. Fonts and colors are excellent. Great for gaming and anything else you are working on. I have it connected to HDMI.

HP 2711x27 LED Monitor

The monitor is large, the refresh rate is fast, but the problem is with the aspect ratio. With a native 1920 x 1080 (16:9 aspect ratio) the print is pretty small. The next 16:9 resolution is 1600 x 900 which would be great if the thing were accurate. The 1600 x 900 produces a square that has a 9:8 ratio.If you are using the monitor for any photographs, all of your subjects will appear fat. If you go to the next 16:9 ratio, you end up with 1280 x 720. Now everything is huge, but the ratio is spot on. Would I recommend this monitor? Not really. I bought it because it supposedly supported a 1600 x 900 resolution. Guess what...NOT!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a good moniter, but would be better if it could be adjusted up and down. It sits too low on my desk and requires a book under it or something like that to get it high enough to use. My old H.P. screen was adjustable several ways and it was just what I needed. This one will tilt, but should be adjustable up and down also. The size of the screen is great. and the purchase price was good to.

The brightness and clarity over my previous 27" monitor is a great help to me untill medicare will pay for the cost of cataract surgery that I will have or should have done late this year or early next year. I'm sorry that I didn't buy this monitor November 2011 when I purchased my new HP computer.

It is a a very nice looking screen display. I did have a little trouble locating the small buttons underneath the edge of the lower right hand corner, Now that I found them they are fine. I do wish the monitor had a USB port or two as well.

A very large screen at a very good price compared to a few years ago. Quickly wakes up. Much better on waking up than Samsung SyncMaster 2494hm. Don't see why HP doesn't include an HDMI cable since the HP computers have HDMI output.
