I am NOT a techie! I managed to unpack, plug, and connect this monitor to a laptop in less than half an hour! My husband was very impressed. As a photographer, I wanted a large monitor to be able to design slideshows and books. This is a beauty! Colors are accurate, The large screen allows me to see multiple windows. It is lightweight with a small footprint, sleek design.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My HP 24" have a much better resolution

I have a HP 24" monitor and just purchased a pair of those 27" LCD LED monitors thinking that they would have a better resolution, BUT, for my surprise....the 24" regular LCD CRT still have a better and crispier resolution.
Yes, I did update the drivers for the monitor and video card (NVidia with 1 Gig memory).....still, the only good thing about the LED is....it is light and slim, but picture wise...is grainy.
Also, another disappointment...you can only tilt it...no movement up or down, so if you are a tall person you will have a problem.
If I knew about this, I would not had purchased this model...also, and very important: I have about 8 plus HP products, generally they are good but if need CS, you are in trouble, last time I needed I got two guys from India or Pakistan that barely could speak any English...complete aggravation!!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Simple Monitor for the non OCD

Needs: Large gaming monitor that can handle 60fps smoothly and won't break the bank account.
Pros: Handles fast paced FPS games without a hitch, large and beautiful screen at an affordable price. No frills that add up cost (i.e. speakers, webcam, USB hub, etc.). Shiny screen means very clear images.
Cons: Shiny screen also means there must be minimal sunlight into the room, else you end up seeing your own reflection. Affordability means this is only 1920x1080 for a large 27" screen, pixels are noticeable on the edge of text but are not apparent while gaming or watching videos. Viewing angle is limited because it is a TN panel monitor (this should be expected at this price point). Monitor stand is quite flimsy, it won't fall on itself but if you shove it or if there's an earthquake, this thing will be wobbling all over the place. Monitor requires a power brick which is included but boggles my mind (yes you read that right). No VESA mounting points, must buy HP proprietary monitor arm, which as of writing, has not been released yet.
Conclusion: I'd only recommend this monitor to those on a budget and need a large monitor without the high resolution or clarity of an IPS panel. This monitor is really just a 27" TV without speakers. If you're like me and watch lots of TV shows and movies on your computer while also needing the response time of a TN panel for face paced gaming, this monitor fits the bill. I love how this is an affordable featureless monitor but I hate how HP cut corners by designing a cost effective but under-engineered monitor stand and decided on the omission of VESA mounting points.

Great, but

The only con for this magnificant screen is that it is set at a fixed height. You cannot raise or lower. I have to stack wooden boxes underneath the stand to make it higher so it's at my eye level. What's up with that? You spend alot of research and technology in making a good monitor and then you can't even give people the option of raising or lowering the screen?

This monitor is very nice for viewing photographs or images against a colored background. The shiny screen does not cause me problems, perhaps because my computer is in a room with small windows and I often work at night. On the downside, I am very disappointed by the ability to read text against a white background. So manuscripts in Microsoft Word, for example, or emails, are less well defined and less easy to read than my previous monitors. The textual menu headings and menu items in various software such as Word or Powerpoint are particularly difficult to read. The result is that, even though I bought this larger monitor so that I could work effectively while not sitting so close to the screen, I find I have to constantly lean forward to read the text, which is large but at the same time faint and poorly resolved.

This is a great monitor, easy to hook up, picture is beautiful and clear. No cons other than it would be nice to have a UBS port on it. You can't go wrong with it for the price! Have had mine for about for a little over 3 weeks now. Highly recommend it.

Almost Too Wide for my Work Surface

This monitor is a perfect complement for the HP HPE-8xt that I also purchased.
The screen is wide enough that I can have multiple windows open yet still be able to read them without scrolling.
The picture and color quality of the monitor are supurb. However, default text can sometimes be a little hard to read. For example, I had to change the color of my unread inbound messages in Outlook 2010 so that I could distinguish them from read messages.
Further, the only comfort setting for the monitor seems to be tilt. There is no built-in swivel or height adjustment. That's why I gave the features only 4 stars.
