Compact, Versatile, Brilliant

This machine is ideal for a small business because it has everything one would need. Yes, it is a multifunctional printer and it lives up to its name. Easy to set up although it would help if you had a technical person on hand if connecting to a network as this can be a bit complicated if you don't know what you are doing.

An excellent printer and all round very good value. I did not realise it was a network printer when I bought it but was delighted to find out that it was. Not all that easy to set up (maybe my fault as once done it was not too hard) once done works very well on my home network. Pity its not compatible with Apple Air - I would have thought it should be quite simple to produce a software download to do this.
All in all a great buy and a big improvement on my old HL1240.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The tonner cartrage that was shipped with the unit quickly run out (within a week)
Not happy about that as the inkjet printer that it repalced the cartriges lasted three weeks

Very Good Printer but too noisy

Very good printer but had a fan that does not turn off for 15/20 minutes so is too noise for closed office use

Great printer with one major flaw

I have to say we've had several brother printers for years and always replace them with the new models when we need to in all our offices. This time I decided to try a networked printer to share it when the main system was off and I wasn't disappointed with one exception - the dreaded deep sleep function. It prevents the machine from picking up faxes and means we have to run to the printer to wake it up every time. It's great to save energy over night, but during office hours we need to be able to switch it off, but we can't. I've checked the manual and no joy. Hopefully someone will get in touch with an upgrade or tell me that there is a way to get is resolved.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The toner replacement is cheaper than the competition. The printer itself is not too expensive.
The software to use it could be simpler and it should be easier to find the updates. I can figure out computing stuff, but I'm guessing for older people it would be a nightmare to make this work on a Mac and find the drivers, etc.
Also, I think the supply information for the toner should be more accurate than just saying 'ok'. What percent full is it?
I would recommend this to a friend!

As daft as it sounds I find myself recommending Brother printers almost on a daily basis. This is based purely on my experience of my Multi Function Brother Printer.
Unlike other printers I've had in the past that are capable of printing a high volume of pages at a high speed my Brother printer has never suffered from jams, or folds. It just prints every time I ask it to without the slighest hitch.

Amazing to me also is that since having it and going through ream after ream and box after box of paper it STILL hasn't needed a new toner.
Usually in my experience the toner you get with the printer runs out very quickly. Not with Brother.
