Speed Dry and Garment Settings are great!

PFDS450ELWW has several great features and multiple setting selections plus the sensor setting to detect moisture level of clothes. Only critical comment is the noise level during operation is louder than my old dryer. 15 inch GE Profile Pedestal raises the dryer to perfect high no need to bend over and strain my back.
I would recommend this to a friend!

LOUD Dryer

We are on our second Profile dryer and it is LOUD. The blower is noisy before the gas comes on. Both install guys commented without my prompting, "Wow. That's a loud dryer" and they install 12 units a day.
It is so loud, in fact, that I am not trusting all of the glowing reviews. Not a single one mentioned the blower/fan noise. And since this is our second one (the first one had logic problems as well) I'm pretty certain that LOUD is the standard ambient noise level for the unit.
I wish the dryer worked as well as the washer but sadly I am returning the washer as well.
Another GE problem... It was easier and twice as fast to replace the unit than for GE to send a repairman out. That's horribly inefficient.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dries great, but LOUD!

I bought this as a set with the washer. The dryer does a great job drying and I love how it communicates with the washer to receive the correct drying settings. So far the seem to be accurate. But .... this dryer is LOUD! Very much the opposite of its washer counterpart. Not sure what can be done, if anything -- but my rating would have been outstanding if not for the volume of its operation.
I'm going to set the setting for a recommendation to a friend as "no" based solely on the noise level. If not it wasn't for this, I would be very positive to recommending this dryer to friends. Washer thought rocks and the communication between the two is very positive as well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have only had for a few days and so far I really like it. I love that the washer and dryer communicate with each other. Now my children can help without having to ask what settings to put things on.

GE, so disappointed.

I used to be a GE fanboy. Purchased a GE Profile refrigerator in 1994. It was stellar, no issues and was still working when we donated it in 2016. Was so impressed that from 2003-2013 replaced all my home appliances with GE and GE Profile models, including this dryer (and the matching washer). Of those appliances, the washer and stove are marginal. They function but have nagging issues. The dryer started having minor issues about a year after purchase, which escalated until this year when the blower motor failed. Ok, let's replace it and move on. But no, GE discontinued production of the blower motor several years ago. This motor was used in multiple models and there is no replacement option available! Now, my very expensive dryer that was bought under the assumption it would be reliable and repairable for a number of years is junk after just 5! GE, I know you sold your appliances division, but maybe you should pay attention to the fact that better quality and support of your customers might have allowed you to avoid the financial straits and removal from the Dow index you are currently experiencing.

Dual blower system breaks and can’t be fixed!!

Dryer always overheated clothes. Dried most loads on medium/activewear setting. Got this dryer in 2011 and it stopped heating in 2019. Had 2 visits from GE technicians a week apart to determine the second blower motor with heat sensor was broken, and GE no longer sells the part. Apparently it’s the most common thing to break in this model. now it’s obsolete.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
