I have had this printer for several months now and it is quite simply the best purchase I ever made. Imagine this, it works and does what it is supposed to; be it faxes, scans and printing. My Epson unit replaced a similar 3 in one printer made by a large printer and computer company which was a nightmare. After going through 3 of that other companies printers I filed the last one in the trash, literally. Epson you guys rock!

Setting up Network-WorkForce 840

Setting up the network was easy, especially using a usb! But, it changed my setting for printing and now I'm having a difficult time setting it back to the way I had it with envelopes in top drawer (1) and printing out from bottom drawer (2).

Workforce 840 exceeds expectations

I am one of those people who research items in depth so my decision is best for my needs. I did this with the Epson Workforce 840 and after more than 6 months use the Workforce 840 has permormed exceptionally. Epson has put out some great all-in-one printers but this one is the best and for my purposes the best on the market in its class. Ink useage has improved greatly over previous models and under heavy home use with almost every feature I have yet to find fault. The 500 sheet paper capacity is awesome and the abilty to use the trays in various settings allowing 2 types of paper to be loaded makes for a convenient feature. The top feed tray will support up to 35 pages for fax or copy but I find using heavy grade paper lessens this number to 30 or below. The software allows for many options when scanning and the quality of images and print is outstanding. I keep a 4gb storage card in the printer memory slot and this is great for storage of documents or images to acces from any computer on the network. If you are here looking at the Epson Workforce 840 it has everything you need so stop looking and take one home.

High speed, great picture quality and reliable wireless connectivity.
Only issue is the printed pages comes out from the front of the printed and most of the time landed on the floor. No secure way to stop the paper to come out from the printer.

Worked great out of the box. I needed some assistance setting this up with my IMac but that took no time at all. I also have a laptop and a Droid. I print from everything!!!! Fax right from my computer too. Prints on my network. Excellent!! I even bought one for my son as a birthday gift.

I have used used other printers and faxes but have settled in with all Epson products. I have an Epson 1280 Photo printer, Epson4870 Perfection Photo scanner and now the WorkForce 840. I am completely satisfied with my other Epson products and, so far, the WorkForce 840 has been very easy to install and start using.
I have recommended, and will continue to recommend, Epson products.

Only does one size of envelope
on December 21, 2011

This only prints envelopes size #10. Here it's Christmas and I can't print out my greeting card envelopes. One misssed spec and the machine becomes worthless to me and I'll have to junk it. I got rid of my laser printer, thinking this would replace it. Whoops!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Mixed Feelings

The printer does an adequate job of basic printing. The scanner is also, only adequate. There is nothing outstanding about the printer. The ADF portion jams constantly, we no longer allow anyone to use the ADF, I have tape across it. Now, the real problem. I would love to find the engineer that designed the paper trays. They are TERRIBLE. There should NEVER be a design where you can actually have the paper feed crooked into the printer. In fact, it's harder to make the paper feed straight than it is crooked. I would not recommend this printer to anyone.
