After having other brands, I asked my PC repair technician his opinion of the best home printer, and he said Epson. This printer is FAST, easy to use, with many other attributes we haven't even had time to play with yet - but we will! Photo-quality printing. THANK YOU, EPSON!!

When I got the printer home, I tried to get it hooked up, I was not able so I called my tech support and they worked on it for several hours, then they told me to call Epson tech support which I will do on Monday. Maybe they can get it working???? It may be a great printer, so far after almost 6 hours of working on it, I can't say.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The All in one that is

I have had a miriade of printers (All in ones) in the past 8 years, and by far the 840 has been the best, as far as ease of installation on both all my Macs wirelessly, and Windows in Bootcamp.
The scanning tools are still a little cumbersome and over the network are slow, however the scans themselves are great. Scanning to PDF and making/saving copies is pretty seemless.
The color pictures are pretty respectable as well
Overall, the price paid for all this machine does for my family and business use is fantastic.

Worth the cost, now if theycould just make the ink cheaper than the price of Gold we be all set.

Super easy to set up. Had it up and printing via my network in record time. Worked correctly right out of the box. Even the FAX worked the first time. Never had much luck with FAX on the competitor brand. Very happy so far. Let's see how long the honeymoon lasts.

Doesn't get much better than this

This is such a fine printer and handy office tools. Besides taking the place of four separate machines, it does their individual work very well. My wife, a former graphic designer who poo pooed it when I first brought it home, now loves it too. The only thing which would make it better would be less expensive inks, but isn't that the problem with all inkjet printers? Oh one more thing - if it also printed on CD and DVD disks I wouldn't have had to buy an Artisan 50. I guess you can't have it all - but this is still close.
